You won't have Lightbridge, which is only available for P3A or P3P.
Lightbridge give you 2x-3x the range of P3S' wifi
Also, P3A has 2.7K and P3P has 4K.

what do you lose by going with the standard as opposed to the professional/advanced?

Lightbridge (Pro/Adv) vs. Wifi (Std)
5KM range Vs 1000m
GPS+GLONASS only in PRO/ADV
Vision Positioning System
4K only in pro/4K models

Note that 5km is a LONG way and probably overkill. I keep mine on wifi and on a 500m digital tether and I think that is plenty far for me. 3 miles is out of visual line of sight.

anyone have some input on how much easier the advanced/pro models are to fly over the standard? from what i've read i heard the GLONASS and sensors make the adv/pro models much more stable.

8% eBay Bucks YMMV offer gives you $32, too. Wow, this is tempting

the p3 standard is a wonderful device, flies itself, if you have 400 to buy an aerial camera/video camera, you will NOT regret it, the advanced gives you range beyond how far you can see it, the range of the standard is perfect. the pro is if you need 4k video

You lose a lot. It's just not the missing sensors. The standard is a completely different machine than the pro. It looks similar but even things as simple as how the motors are mounted is different. The Pros are angled slightly for stability. The standard is straight. Since it doesn't cost anymore to mount the motor angled or straight, I think DJI did this to differentiate the performance between the standard and the pro.

So, I wouldn't compare the standard to the pro. They are different machines altogether.

also worth noting, that the battery life on standard is actually a minute or 2 better than on the advanced and pro (because the camera hardware has less draw).

With the range on the professional, you'd probably not have much time to fly out to max range before it would automatically want to return home... it's range is ridiculously far...

The standard is a great little machine, and the DJI app is probably the best in the industry for its ease of use. its more than just a toy too. Ii recently used it to photograph construction progress on my re-roof for insurance purposes. you never know when it will come in handy...

With adv/pro you also have ultrasonic sensor, so you can hover easily indoor or outdoor.
