Hi,

And welcome to Slickdeals. When a deal in hot deals gets popular enough it makes it into Pop deals.
Once they get popular enough for the Deal Editors to feel they deserve to be frontpaged.. they prep them and send them to the frontpage.

Thank you, but what does it take to get into hot deals?

You click the link in Hot Deal for New Thread.

Threads by new users go through moderation. How long that takes depends on how many moderators are on at the time and how busy they are.

At what specific numerical point is a thread designated popular? I'm getting thread-notifications for threads with 6 thumbs-up vote. So is it 6+ TU... or something else?

It isn't a simple thumb check, it's an internal formula Smilie

Ah, so it's arbitrary.

if we told you, we'd have to kill you. But really its not a simple flat score. Things like velocity and other things in there to prevent fraud/vote abuse etc.
