adblock plus. Free and by far the best (at least for Firefox where you can filter individual items on a page). Available for IE too, but the filtering is not as customize-able.

+1 Ublock Origin doesn't take any money from advertisers to get through unlike Adblock Plus. You can think of UBO as almost like an almost firewall as it can block malware too. Faster and uses less memory than ABP too. UBO is available for at least Chrome and Firefox.

You can turn off the allow certain advertisers option in Adblock Plus. It is on by default, but just turn it off in the settings and no ads get through.

I use Adblock
Finding sites are now requiring you to whitelist or turn off to view. On those I just open link using incognito mode

I use Adblock Plus [Paid] & Ublock Origin. Additionally I also use Ghostery. I don't see adverts anymore. Reminds me of pre 2010 internet NICE!

2010? I was blocking ads with a custom chrome.js in Phoenix (early firefox) and a hosts file back in 2002.

OMG! Yup now you know why my wife gets worried when I get lost in our own back yard.

I never dreamed I would survive to this age but seemingly my memory isn't surviving as well as the rest of me.

Adblock Plus is all I use and have for almost a decade. Maybe more, I don't remember when I first found it.
