Any suggestions on a somewhat affordable last minute trip to Vegas (strip) from DFW??? We can leave fri-sat and come back monday. I'm not too picky about hotel, as long as it doesn't look icky and is on or close to strip. Trip is for 2

check out the promo codes at www.mycheapvegas.com and book through the hotel/casino directly. Definitely sign up for their player rewards, you might be able to get your room fully/partially comped if you play enough.

FYI a few people have been thumbs down for asking for hotel deals without a specific price point. I'm not one of them but yeah . . . a price point would help because a "deal" for one person might not be a "deal" for another.

Looking at google flights you can pay $148rt fri-mon or $127rt sat-mon.

You could stay at Luxor for $84 or Excalibur for $72 or Paris for $88 or Flamingo for $85.

If you like to hang out at the pool and party I'd go flamingo, if not then prob Paris. Luxor is Ok, would not recommend excal.

Might be worth trying the $20 trick to get the resort fees waived.

I've had great luck with Hotel Tonight, which is an app worth checking into if you're flexible / adventurous. Furthest out you can book is something like 5 days, but its easy to see what you're getting and all payments are made in the app. It's made road tripping a blast because I don't have to call around for deals anymore!

Have you tried Priceline or Kayak or any of those travel discount sites? I have used Priceline ages ago and it was pretty good. Just a thought.

idk why but i never got notifications for this post Frown
We did book thru priceline, i compared Orbitz, Kayak, Mycheapvegas, etc Total including resort fees was $619 for 2 to LAS from DFW, wish I had tried to get those resort fees waived, had no idea you could do that!! we stayed at Harrah's because of location, it wasn't at the top of my list, it was adequate but nothing "nice" or special but not bad for booking like 2 in advance!

You discreetly hand the person who is checking you in $20 and request a "complimentary" upgrade and/or to have your resort fees waiver (with the excuse that you will not use any of the amenities offered by the resort fee).

yeah, does the $20 work ?
the resort fees should be illegal, they are so ridiculous.
I'm trying to book a trip now, and I keep waiting, and SW air bumps up their cost in miles.
Amazing I'm going to screw myself out of this trip, but not paying 18k miles for one way, when it was 7k last night. Just couldn't pull the trigger....lol

I know how you feel! Not sure why they did that to the costa Rica flights as well!

Of course it works- it costs the desk guy nothing to give you a little better room that'd be empty anyway and he pockets the cash
