poor merchant reputation: MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A CALL IN LESS THAN EVERY 60 DAYS, OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE DOWNGRADED TO FREE PLAN (125min/50text/25MB) WITH NO NOTICE. THIS WAS STARTED SINCE 07/11/2016.

Rising Free Plan - New activations only - Member+ not required.
Opening Tuesday, May 3 at 6pm PT while supplies last.

This is a different kind of plan:
Voice 800 + R+$
Text 800 + R+$
MB/LTE 800 + R+$
MMS + R+$
Tethering Included

(R+$) = And $5 for free to spend on MMS, International calls, Voice, Text, Data or Save up and get roaming for free

Overages 3 cent for Voice, Text, Data; or 4 cents for MMS

Top up $15 (Auto Top Up)

What does R+$ stand for?

All RingPlus plans begin with a certain top up balance. With the Rising Free Plan, the required top up is $15 plus tax. If your account reaches a zero balance, your account will be topped up again $15 plus tax.

==================================
So what's new? How is this plan different?
Each month, we will add a free $5 to your existing top up until you reach a max of $150.

For example: If you don't go over your allotment in a given month, at the beginning of the next month, you will have $20 as a top up, not $15. The $5 monthly credit will be added until you reach a maximum of $150. If you spend some of your top up on overages and other services, you will have less money, but we will still add $5.

===================================
The advantages of the plan:
The Big Advantage

You can use the $5 on any service you like. It is not preset to only voice, data, or texting units.

The International Advantage

You can use the $5 for some international calls.

The Small Advantage

This is the solution to annoying MMS charges. As a result, a few MMS are not a problem anymore.

The Long Term Advantage

If you don't use any of your top up on overages, after 7 months you can enable roaming.

I'd rather buy a Tracfone with Verizon coverage if I'm going to keep a backup. No ads, no social media requirements, real customer service, and BYOD actually works. Imagine that, the new normal is paying for reliable service. LMAO

really crazy but it might work. If you don't like it just wait for next promo. I'm holding my thumb until they explain it better.

So after 12 months, do we get 2500mb of data each month?

Just to be clear. You don't get an extra 167MB per month. You get a 1 time use credit of $5/mo. That credit if never used would max out at $150. A $150 credit could be used for 5000MB of data. You would not get 5000/MB per month after 27 months.

Nope. You get $5 credit to do with as you please each month.
You could look at it as a 167 unit roll over each month if that makes it easier to understand.

Edit: I misunderstood the promo. It seems like it's promising to reward the faithful.

Yes, you are correct. Smilie

This plan is not for someone who uses R+ as primary phone full-time.
Each month, it gets only 800 minutes, 800 texts, and 800 MB data;
plus free $5 top to be used on either 167 minutes, texts, or MB data.

However, this plan is great for a backup phone or hotspot on vacations.

You can save up to 5,000 + 800 = 5,800 MB full-speed LTE data for tethering.

You should brush up on your tired 90s references. Tracfone has nearly 25M customers and runs on 3 major carriers. They have a 90 day/$35 smartphone plan and real customer service. Ad subsidized phone service...well that goes well with all those defunct free ISPs like NetZero and Juno.

So they're rewarding you for NOT using your phone? Doesn't that work against the ad-supported model? Scratchhead And it asks you to put a little faith in their longevity, no?

Quite the opposite, they are encouraging you to use the service by paying you and expecting you to spent it. There is no incentive after a few months to not spent it.. But I wonder what they get out of it..

Now I feel that my 1200/1200/1250 plan with free tethering is so great. The following plans are not as good as the old ones. Yes, you may get 4000/4000/4000, but I won't be able to use 4000MB data without tethering.

Increased number of active lines that they can show as progress to advertisers or other investors?

Right, I get that now. I edited my post. But given how squeamish some people are about R+'s longevity, I'm not sure how popular this deal will get.
