Touchpad stopped working Ideapad 15 (Wiped it)

OpenMike 29 14 May 3, 2016 at 06:27 PM
Ideapad 15 has been upgraded from windows 7 64 bit to windows 10 64 bit. This upgrade was done over a year ago.

Two days ago I used my laptop at work, closed it without shutting it down, and then brought it home and opened it. The bluetooth was not working and the touchpad was not working. I got the bluetooth to work again.

Things I've tried: Checked for windows updates, and updated driver. Neither worked. Also made sure touchpad was turned on in settings.

Does anybody have any ideas I can try to fire my touchpad back up. I would prefer to do this without having to roll back my laptop. I haven't been good about backing up my laptop and I will lose a lot of programs if I do...

Thanks in advance

Mike

check under device manager would be a good place to start, you should also be able to go to a restore point from a day or so ago to get it back working if it is just software.

I just wiped it.. I didn't have the option to roll it back to a point after the windows 10 install.. I took it back to 8, and am now installing windows 10 upgrade.

The pc was bugging out in several areas. The touchpad is working right now. Im going to keep it super simple with what I put on the laptop.

epic timing for this mess..right during finals build up

A chkdsk /r repair and reloading the touchpad driver from the manufacturer's website might have been all you needed to do.

You don't have to go back to 8 and them upgrade to 10. You could have downloaded an image of 10 and did the reinstall straight.
