Good price but I see a lot of complaints about the auto shut off feature. Anyone have a first hand experience with these?

I am using this since last yr. bought refurbished from jbl. And I must say that they are excellent for the price.

As far as the auto shutdown, i in fact feel that its a great feature especially as it allows me to keep the speakers always. plugged in to power. Also, i have found a way to stop them getting autoshutoff by a small adjustment. I keep my laptops volume to full always and use the physical speaker volume control. it has helped me getting rid of the autoshotoff. Basically if the volume output from the connected device falls below a certain decibel levels, then they shut off. keeping the system volume to full or even better amplified, simply denies the volume level to go down of that threshold.

One line summary, the autoshutdown is manageable. It worked for me but it may be YMMV depending on your audio requirements.

Sorry not sorry, those reviewers are dumb and probably computer illiterate. I have these, and they've never shut off on me while using them. They only shut off when you have the sound on your computer so low that you can't even really hear it. Like at a 5 out of 100 on the master volume. So low it's not even worth having on.

As long as you're not doing something that stupid, then these work exactly as intended - they shut off when you pause or mute, and they turn back on when you start watching the video or playing music again.

There is a slight, less than a second delay that it takes for them to detect sound and turn back on, but unless you're using these to receive notifications, it's a non-issue.

They sound and look amazing while saving energy. Worth $20 and then some. And their footprint is fairly small.

I am using this for pretty much more than a year. I did not face any such issues. Bought the speaker in similar deal. This is cool

I picked these up last time they went on sale for this price. They DO automatically shut off when there is no sound coming from the computer, even when the volume on the computer is set to 100. If that fixes the problem, it's only because you have a cheap/noisy 3.5mm jack. My laptop doesn't, so I'll miss email and chat notification sounds occasionally. However, when they're playing music, they sound comparable to $100+ speakers. They're JBL, so sound quality is not an issue. I don't mind them shutting down on me every so often when I'm not listening to music, so it's a worthwhile buy in my opinion.

Don't buy this garbage. It will turn off when sound goes mute. I had returned within 2 days.
