I didn't see this posted anywhere else and a search for NRA on here doesn't show anything since March.

Seems like a good deal for someone looking to renew or upgrade (or start) to a lifetime membership.

Benefits include insurance on your guns, insurance on yourself if you get killed or dismembered while hunting, magazine choice from 3 options, protection for your right to bear arms, etc.. check the nra website for more info.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Well, the hoplophobes have checked in, but this is a decent deal. Basically, if you are gonna be a member for more than 25 years, this is cheaper. Lots of people giving these away for graduation, communion, etc, to younger kids. Not as good as the $300 deal, which we may see again depending on the election.

The value is, access to some ranges, expanded insurance covering your collection, a few other small things that add up. But mainly supporting the strongest group out there. Some of us may more closely align with something like the GOA, but NRA has the clout to get things done. I personally have seen them play critical roles in expanding CCW in Illinois, California and Florida, and they have long-term plans to further strengthen the 2A.

Looks good to me. Especially all the money they give to schools and ranges for improvements and safety training.

When my son was younger in his Boy Scouts days the camp we went to had a very nice gun range all paid for by the NRA.

One of the nicest outdoor range I have been to, The instructors spent a lot of time teaching gun safety.

Keep in mind this isn't your father's NRA- they are a lot different now. Still, looks like a good price if interested.

I'm strongly pro-2nd amendment, but i am not fond of the NRA since they voted for the NFA, which makes it difficult to purchase suppressors which are really safety devices.

Yes. They used to be a FUDD-only organization that worked hand-in-hand with anti-gun lawmakers to pass 'reasonable' anti-gun laws. In the last few years they have radically changed to embrace the new focus on modern sporting rifles and military-style weapons, poured money into expanding CCW nationwide, and are going full-out in fighting strategic cases on the judicial circuit to strengthen 2A rights for everyone. NRA still isnt as abrasive as some other organizations, but they have finally realized that they cant 'trade' rights to buy time: the enemy never stops coming, and always wants more, because their endgame is complete eradication of the 2A.

I remember my dads magazines were all $2500 wood-and-blued-steel fine shotguns, chrome revolvers, the occasional wood-stocked M1. Now its all military-action-based rifles being used competitively or for hunting, polymer SWAT-looking pistols, the occasional wood-stocked AK.
