Yes, I know you don't necessarily associate Whole Foods and Slickdeals, but I actually live a few blocks away from one(in the same shopping center as a CVS, lol), and I frequently stop in on the way back from the gym. No, they don't double coupons, and you usually can't get the outrageous deals that you can get at CVS or a conventional supermarket for that matter, but you can frequently get decent deals, not to mention lots of free samplesyummy And their '365' house brand is usually comparably priced to Trader Joe's, and cheaper than a comparable supermarket item. And maybe it's the economy, but I have noticed them getting considerably cheaper on some advertised items as of late.

Sales for Whole Foods stores are regional, although they seem to have some national deals on grocery items(canned and packaged foods). Sales tend to run on 2 and 4 week cycles, and new cycles tend to start on Wednesdays. They also tend to have regional sales, that run on the weekends or may also run on 2 week cycles(the "Madness" sales in the Northeast) that tend to feature regional deals like produce, meat, prepared food, bakery etc.

Your best bet to find out what's on sale at your local store, is to go to your store's website, which is located at www.wholefoodsmarket.com. Enter your zip code up top, and pick your store. In addition to the sales circular, there is often a calendar of store events, a twitter feed or facebook page.
One aspect of Whole Foods is that the stores tend to have a lot more "events" than a conventional supermarket. These can be promotions, contests,
sampling events, cooking classes. If your store calendar isn't posted online, there is always one at the store entrance. And while many of these promos are not worth a separate trip(though I have gotten some nice sample packs at times), if you are going to the store anyway, why not go when they are giving something away?

Whole Foods also distributes a coupon book in store, called "The Whole Deal". These are store coupons and are will NOT scan at other retailers, despite the bar codes. You should be able to combine them with a manufacturer coupon, but YMMV.

Get your meat marinated LMAO

on a separate note:

i went to buy some marinated organic chicken, meat counter person said they can't sell pre-marinated organic chicken, because the meat area has non-organic meats, and so once they process the organic meat, it is considered non-organic, even though in reality it is organic.

ahh, good to know.

however, once they give you this disclaimer, if you select a cut of prepackaged organic free range chicken, or organic grass fed beef or what have you, they will happily baste it in the marinade of your choice should you so want. which means while you shop around the store, and then drive home, the meat can marinate and then you can cook it as soon as you get home and put away the other groceries. it's a decent time-saver if you don't mind the brief contact with non-organic meats in the counter area - i figured it's a good option to keep in mind for when one is really crunched for time.

So, I figure this thread is probably the SD thread to ask this kind of a question Smilie :

Does anybody here buy cage-free or pasture-raised, organic eggs, instead of conventional factory-farm, grain-fed eggs? If yes, what brand(s) do you like, how much does it cost for half-a-dozen or a dozen, and do you find they taste different or better?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I rarely buy eggs at Whole Foods anymore -- too spendy -- but have tried just about every variety of eggs from Safeway, Fred Meyer and Trader Joe's,locally sourced white/conventional variety @$1.79/doz. to the top shelf OG brands that cost up to $4.xx. There is some difference in color and taste but to be honest if I want exceptional taste I haven't found anything at any grocery store that warrants the higher sticker price. If WF had duck or goose eggs I'd be all over those though as the flavor and rich color are unparalleled.

Part of the problem, IME, with CF/FR/OG eggs is freshness. There just doesn't seem to be enough turnover at the store level to ensure consistent freshness, i.e. yolks that "sit up", no water-y pools at the edges of the whites, etc.

. . . . . .

Good deal on Jarrow vitamins with the $3 WF booklet Q if you can find the monthly natural foods magazine at Kroger/Kroger affiliated stores. There's a $2MQ exp. 12/31/16 near the back of the mag (along with other high value Qs that may be useful to some of you Wink). Even at WF prices, $7.49 for methyl B12 1000mg 100 ct after Qs is competitive with Amazon prices.

I buy cage free eggs. I buy them when they're about 2.50 a dozen at Smiths (Kroger affiliate, that's usually their store brand), usually, or sometimes at Sprouts (or wherever, really, but usually those two places). Sometimes spend up to 2.99 if I'm out of eggs.

I switched about 10 years ago, so to be honest I can't remember what conventional eggs tasted like but don't feel like it was a lot different. I switched for ethical reasons more than taste. Conventional eggs aren't that much cheaper around here most of the time (I mean, they might be more like 1.50 but to me it's worth the extra $1).

Interesting point.
At my local QFC, I know there's a high turnover with the organic eggs we buy because just like the Organic Valley milk at that store, it's not that unusual for them to run out. There was a time last year or 2 years ago that supply was limited for some reason, and I think it was 3 weeks before I successfully bought eggs. Of course, then I bought a bunch, so there goes the freshness, lol. Doesn't make that much difference to me most of the time (unless we're making something with raw egg) as I don't eat eggs on their own.

Hope I did this right while mobile....added the WF global q policy. If yall want it I can copy paste the wording when have time tonight.

Got a couple avalon face wash at the store that treated me like crap a month ago and I went strait to CS to checkout. It was a different woman and she was amazing. When I told her what happened last time she called the dairy manager. He apologized for things that weren't his fault and said to always have CS call the respective department managers for stock/order/RC so that they are personally responsible for fulfilling whatever the customer needs. Going to contact correct to praise their work.

It was such a amazing trip...even though DS4 was a little let down there was no chips/guac sampling station LMAO

I live near a farm and I buy there, they have the chickens running around the farm, they feed them clean feed (not sprayed pesticide laden feed) and the chickens usually eat worms and whatever the come across.

We pay $5/dozen, we go through about 6 doz a month for our family of 6. I rarely if ever go to the grocery store, we get our milk from our raw dairy farmer just south 20 min and our org produce from the same farm as the eggs.

If you are close to a farm or friend who has chickens it might be worth checking out. Once we move we can have our own chickens but right now the HOA dictates every move we make. Mad

My stores (DC MD NoVA) are having a 3 day promo for 25% off all supplements 8/12-8/14
You can have them put what you want aside for you. Found jarrow clearance protein powder I mentioned before which now has a $3/1 wfq & $2/1 mq on their site (various tp around too). Decent price.

Signs were up in vitamin aisle too.
