Sales tax is never calulated in deals because it varies too much, from 0-10+%. Whether it affects the deal personally is up to you.

is your state sales tax 11% or 6%? if it's 6%, you're only losing 1% after rewards.

It's 6% lost because reward doesn't cover the tax.

Sales tax varies from state to state and sometimes there is added municipality and county sales taxes in addition to the state sales tax eg. NYC and Nassau cty. Some states tax before all coupons like TN, some b4 mqs but after store q's, some after all q's. Some states do not have any sales tax, eg. DE and NH.

Might be in a state that taxes pre-all coupons so charges sales tax on rewards?

Sales tax is the cost of doing business. If you are not coming out ahead you are doing something wrong.

Are you recycling ink for rewards?

Are you reselling?

Are you using coupons to make the deals mm's?

Are you getting your gc's at a discount?

If you answered no to all of the above, you need to read the staples threads more carefully because you are only doing the deals halfway.
