Someone mentioned he'd seen folks reporting other amazon purchases getting the 5% for the bookstore category. My card is en-route and I'd like to get 1st hand info vs friend of a friend.

Thanks in advance!

This blog [freequentflyerbook.com] says yes, as do a few posters on the myFICO forums. This blog [nerdwallet.com] also states that Amazon's MCC at the time was "bookstore." However, the newest post in the bunch is from March 2014. I theen ran over to the Visa Supplier Locator [visa.com] and Amazon.com in Seattle, WA is listed as "BOOK STORES / NEWSTANDS - 5942" so you should still be good. As an aside, if your local Best Buy still carries Amazon GCs you can also get 5% back at Amazon by choosing the Electronics category on Cash+ and buying GCs at BB.

Just get the Amazon store card. 5% on all AMZN purchases, no annual fee and you don't need to worry about it.

And a requirement that you keep a prime membership or it drops to 3%. I'll stick with US Bank.

How did you do the search on that page? For example I know frys.com is 5732 - electronics but I couldn't get the search on that visa page to do squat.

Just confirming that a test amazon purchase (a $10 gift card "reload") showed up as "BOOK STORES / NEWSTANDS - 5942"

[To find the category code download your transactions into CSV and it will be to the right of the memo field]
