Hi All,
Any help would be appreciated. My 5 yr old HP-G62 just died on me. Besides the cooling fan issues, it worked very well. My needs have changed so I had hoped to replace it last BF but didn't spot any worthy deals.

I'd like to keep the budget at $700 but could go slightly over if necessary. I'd be using it for:
- Internet 24/7 with over 100 windows opened daily.
Tons of social media interaction
-watching, uploading/downloading video files.
- Editing video files (nothing above HD)
- Photoshop and resource hogging programs.
- Like my HP G-62, something that will be able to last for the next 4-5 yrs.
- Large hard drive
- mobility isn't an issue
- touchscreen & i7 would be cool.
- Prefer HP or Lenovo

Hoping to borrow a friends lappy until Memorial Day, but would like to grab something asap.

I was looking at a couple deals

$700 - HP Spectre x360 13-4101dx - Flip design - Core i7 5500U / 2.4 GHz - Win 10 Home 64-bit - 8 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD - no ODD - 13.3" IPS touchscreen 1920 x 1080 ( Full HD ) - HD Graphics 5500 - 802.11ac
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applic...CatId=4935
$520 -Lenovo Laptop G70-80 (80FF00HKUS) Intel Core i7 5500U (2.40 GHz) 8 GB Memory 1 TB HDD Intel HD Graphics 5500 17.3" Windows 10 Home

$550 -Lenovo Ideapad 500 15.6" Full HD IPS Notebook 6th Gen Core i7-6500U 8GB RAM
http://ebay.com/itm/371611886979?...noapp=true

Any advice?

P's - sry for any format issues. Typing from phone.

Thanks for your input. Wow that looks like a pretty hot deal. Maybe unfounded but I'm pretty biases against Acer, Asus, Dell etc. I def wouldn't risk a refurb as I need something reliable.

Both of these are pretty good.

If I'd be you, I would get the Lenovo and put an SSD in there. If not get the ASUS, it will be pretty fast too. Neither of them are touchscreen though Frown

Yeah that's the Lenovo 500 I was looking at. Unfort tax and no ebay promos brings it to over $600 for me - same goes for Asus. That's what prompted me to increase my budget, which got me looking at the HP... is the eBay Lenovo still a good deal at $600+ considering I don't mind going a bit higher for something significantly better? Oh, and the cost of SSD and memory if applicable.

How about this laptop? It was a Black Friday model at Walmart and is clearanced there now for between $99 and $169. Stock is pretty low for it, but you could use Brickseek to check for inventory before trying to go to a WM store to check for one. I included a link to Brickseek in the OP of the thread(as I'm the OP of the thread/deal).

Thanks. I'm looking for something a lot more robust and tech able. I'll be using the machine 8-15 hrs a day.

Arghh! Finally got an eBay bonus offer so was about to grab lenovo 500 but price has risen... back to drawing board.

Do you like Inspirons? If so, I just made a long post on someone else's "Help Me Find a Deal" post about what we just ordered. 17" Inspiron... i7, 6th gen., 2 TB, Touch screen, tons of ram, etc. $440 w/ free shipping even though Dell outlet initially showed somewhere around $769 for the price. It was refurbished, but came looking brand new w/ 1 yr warranty. Buy a discounted Dell GC first. (They only allow 2 GC's per order!) Use cashback site for the GC to maximize savings. Also, their inventory changes throughout the day. We found the best deals early AM and late evening. They had a similar model to ours pop up every 2 days or so. It took us over a week to get the GC mess straightened out, so we had to keep going through the process. They don't get a ton of these in, but you can find them. Also, you may prefer the 15" anyway. The 17" is really nice, but it's heavy, so it's something to consider.

Thanks. That deal is awesome! I got excited when I saw it even though it's Toshiba and I've never heard anything good about them...Then I read feedback in the thread plus the reviews and it seems Toshiba is still living up to it's (horrible) reputation. I'll pass...

Ah ok, I didn't read any reviews. I just looked at the specs. It's probably why it's this cheap. They use the cheapest parts

Recently there were some Acer deals by Newegg and Adorama @ebay with free ship and no tax.
But not sure if you really need the graphics and overall cpu, screen, hdd, specs, & build quality may be too moderate or lacking for your needs...anyways both deals are dead now.

Luckily the Lenovo Ideapad 500 15.6" Full HD IPS Notebook 6th Gen Core i7-6500U 8GB RAM from eBay is back again. There's tax for me, but I received a 10% ebay bucks qpon, so it offsets it.
Funnily enough my old beast laptop is actually working again - it was the adapter and not the cpu. It'll be a good backup lappy. I hope this new Lenovo will be just as reliable.
Thanks ALL for your input and help. Much appreciated.

You've got yourself a nice deal, specially after getting $55 back. Congrats
