Microsoft Store has dropped the price of the Disney Infinity 2.0 starter kit for the Xbox 360 down to just $8! Great deal considering it includes the base, game and characters. This is the older version but good way to get started. Free shipping too!

To bad the xbox 360 base only works with xbox 360 versions of the game, would have been a cheap way to get a base for XBONE to go with the digital version of 3.0 being $10, but no dice.

Seems like a good price for a couple of characters + discs, those should work fine for any version of Infinity 2.0 / 3.0.

I started playing 3.0, but got the 2.0 starter kit, eventually. Still a fun game. But the playsets really make the game, whereas with 3.0, there's enough with the core game to keep you going for a while. One main difference is the Skill Tree is set up differently.

They can be, but only if you don't look out for deals. you can find new characters for $6-8. I don't think I've ever bought any over $10. On the bright side, they look really cool. So they have a great visual aspect, outside of them being functional for the game. Keep in mind, the chargers aren't backwards compatible, only forward. So, 3.0 characters won't work with this game. But 2.0 characters will work with the 3.0 game (excluding playsets, aka expansions).

does that 3.0 for 9.99 include star wars episode IV-VI? or is it just like some kind of base game and needs expansions? should I just buy the Xbox one bundle? it comes with lame figures, I can get a new base on eBay for $14 and $10 for the game. would be pretty cheap but wanna make sure I'm not missing out on something compared to getting the pack

$4 at Target for the Toy Box (Merida/Stitch) if you can find it - marked down to $15.79 before 75% Cartwheel.

You need the figures to play it.

How does an adult begin to understand how this works?!? All the 2.0 characters are compatible with the 3.0 game. So if I bought this AND the 3.0 Starter Pack (expensive) these characters will work with it? But is their value to this by itself or will my kids just play the 3.0 game if I get them both?

It is confusing. The 2.0 characters will work with 3.0. I just bought a 3.0 starter for my kids, but I don't get what exactly is the "game" part of this 2.0 starter pack. The description is fairly weak. Googling begins.... Would be a pain if this game only works with the 2.0 base and have to switch it back and forth. As well as explaining to my little ones why their 3.0 Star Wars characters don't work with it. Still, good deal here.

edit: After looking around it's still a touch confusing. This starter pack really only has Toy Box, yes? Is the Toy Box in 2.0 different than 3.0 or do they pretty much share the same worlds, but with only 1.0/2.0 characters used here? In 2.0 is Marvel Avengers the only game outside of Toy Box? If I already have 3.0 then getting this really is a waste if I already have the characters, yes?
