Dell Venue stuck on Android 4.4.4

Hi

Had an issue with Dell Venue 7840 tablet's battery, sent device in under warranty. They said they needed a part and asked if it was OK to send a different one instead. I agreed.

The replacement Venue 7840 came with Android 4.4.4 version. Cannot get it to update to new version. Tried factory reset, restart, system update (of course)... none worked.

Anyone know how to solve this problem?

just contact Dell why bang your head against the wall over it. But also check to make sure you have disk space.

I would deal with Dell on it. Not much point in you having to fix these things when it is under warranty. They may have sent you a refurb that has some other Rom on it and can't get updates anymore.

Hi

To be clear, I sent in a refurb and got one back.

Its been on wifi since I got it.. about 2 weeks now. The Dell CS guy suggested I take it to ANOTHER network and try. Haven't tried that yet...

Its 32GB model, still have about 21gb free.

Weird part is... they acknowledge its a problem, but the CS guy says he needs "authorization" to send me another tablet. WTH?

Was hoping there was a way to just hook up a cable and force it to upgrade. Google didn't return any issues that seemed similar though...
