Default to classic forum / thread view setting?

red_vigilante 608 142 May 10, 2016 at 11:32 AM
Is there any way to default to the classic thread/UBB view? Clicking "view thread" will still frequently (but not deterministically, it seems) bounce me back to the new view, and the quotation in replies invariably gets FUBAR unless in UBB mode.

(This is my fault insofar as I use a bunch of security focused browser extensions, though if you didn't have to have a hundred thousand different external trackers and scripts running...)

If you look on the bottom of the front page and most forum pages, there are links for "Classic View" that will set this default for you.

I have the same question, and this thread was relatively recent, so I wanted to ask a follow-up:

Your suggestion goes to a view that isn't the new one, but isn't the "view forum thread" either.

For example, on Classic, I get this when clicking on a thread link from the search or home page: Click image for larger version

Name:	2016-06-03_13h52_13.jpg
Views:	16
Size:	368.9 KB
ID:	4254479

I have to click View Forum Thread to see this, which is what I want to see by default so I can multi-quote etc.: Click image for larger version

Size:	312.1 KB

How do I get to the latter directly, always? I'd be happy with a greasemonkey script if it can't be done by default through the site.

We've deployed an option that will allow users to opt out of the Permadeal view while in Classic; you can find it on your settings page https://slickdeals.net/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions

Thanks to you both! I checked through options but I must have missed that one, not knowing what a Permadeal is. Blush
