I bought one of these the last time around for $500, and I am very happy with my purchase. Just wanted to share my experience with this bass to help anyone who may be on the fence to make a decision.

I am primarily a guitar player, but also enjoy playing bass from time to time. I own an american P bass as well, but I wanted a short scale that I would feel more at home on coming from guitar.

In terms of build quality, the bass that I received was consistent with what I have experienced with other made in mexico fender products, was free from any functional defects, and is overall a quality product.

I was skeptical of how this bass would sound given the irregular pickup configuration, but I was really impressed when I plugged it in to my ampeg! This thing can really get a range of different tones. I was worried it would sound thin, or flat and that I would prefer the sound of my P bass. This was not the case. I find myself playing this bass more often than the P due to the short scale, and the fact that I have a range of tones at my disposal just using the pickup selector and knobs on the Rascal. It also has a unique look that I think is really sharp!

At $460 for a brand new MiM Fender limited run bass, this is a good buy imo. The price may drop another $20 or so if they don't sell out this time around like some other commenters have mentioned. But, it seems to me that the price is already heavily discounted, and I could easily see this being the lowest price. As I said before, I paid $500 for mine, and I have been very happy with my purchase. I would recommend this bass to anyone looking for a versatile short scale bass. At this price, if you are interested, I say go for it, the $20 price reduction may or may not ever come, and I personally wouldn't want to miss out on this over that.

That's just my two cents, if you are on the fence, you'll have to weigh how much you want it, how much you want that $20, and what you think the odds are of the price going down or the product selling out before that happens haha.

I am not sure why this deal got no response. This guitar is going everywhere for $800, and here it is $500 shipped? I am in the market for a short scale bass, and this deal has me re-thinking my likely choice. What a great deal!

If they have inventory that's not selling off, it'll go lower. Patience vs. needing it now. And if it goes up, no big deal. The dice i'm willing to roll.

I've seen this deal comes and goes for more than 5 times now and the price seems go be going lower. So yeah, you're not wrong. But then again, if you need it, why wait a few months to save $20 when you can buy it now and play it now?

Thanks for the input! That pickup configuration certainly had me scratching my head a bit and wondering if they just forgot to put two more strings on it. Smilie

I have a pretty nice j bass, nicer than my skills anyway, but this looks fun.
