The processor's a little outdated and there's no SSD. The 965M makes this a good deal, however.

Not a great deal for a refurbished, IMHO. The 17.3" screen and the 965m are the highlights, but not worth it.

As far as I know, that processor actually out performs a 6700.

And how does a 965m compare to a 970m?

Edit: http://pc4u.org/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980m-vs-970m-vs-965m-vs-960m-vs-860m-specs-and-benchmark-comparison/

Seems like the 970m is about 50% faster in generic benchmarks.

Great cooling system for a laptop.

I have the Best Buy version of this laptop, the difference is it came with a touchscreen. It's a fine laptop for gaming. I've played the new Doom beta, overwatch beta and now the Forza 6 beta. Along with a long list of games from my steam library. i let the games set their own settings for 1080p resolution and never have any issues. It has 4 ram slots which support up to 8gb ram each (don't bother with the 16gb sticks, they don't work). 2 of them are under the keyboard and take some effort to access and 2 of them are behind a panel on the bottom along with 2 sata drive bays. The 8gb stick that comes with this laptop will be under the keyboard unless they change it in the refurbished process. That should leave 2 easily accessible for up to 24gb ram without having to remove more than 1 screw.

The sata bays are setup as one sata III and one sata II. They can be raided together in the bios but with the second bay only being sata II it doesn't yield any performance increase. I put one SSD in the sata III slot and move the 1tb platter drive to the Sata II slot.

I have my desktop for when I want to max everything out at 4K but for anything I want to do from the living room or when traveling, I very much enjoy using this laptop.

Edit: as a side note- this thing is HUGE, I had to buy a backpack for it and even then there were only 2 in Best Buy that would fit it. It's not unusually wide but it is very deep. About 1.5 or so inches more than my other 17" laptop. Which is what was problematic. Oh and cooling wise, I never feel this thing warm up. Sometimes I hear the fans a little but I use the laptop while watching tv and it's never been noticeable by me or my wife.

I love the touchscreen on mine. It is glossy though, as most tend to be. Reflections aren't horrible but I've been used to them from my 17" MBP days so, something worth considering.

Newer chipset, faster ram and large SSD also make that a better deal. Well worth the $100 difference.
