Cheapest way to port in/out of a cellular carrier?

If I wanted to say, port out of VZW and back in in a couple days, what's the most cost effective way? Lowest I've seen would be to use R+ @ $8. Any other options?

I wouldn't recommend ringplus.

Porting to a t-mobile sim can be pretty cheap. You used to be able to do it without adding any airtime, but that's always a little gamble (do it for as short as possible). Tracfone works too you, sim card will run $0-$7 minimum airtime is $10.

cheap, fast, good - pick any two.

PSA: Yahoo email is extremely insecure...switch to Gmail if you can!! Hotmail is better but not as good as Gmail.
