It seems to me that the PS Neo will only be worth the wait for certain people. The biggest advancements seem to be towards VR and 4K. Of course more will be known after an official announcement, but aside from those two things, I don't think there's much reason for someone to purchase it over a standard console.

The VR will cost you another $500 for instance (VR Bundle) so you'll likely have to put down close to a grand (maybe more) just to use the VR. That won't be doable for a lot of people...or at least not worth it.

4K is cool, but no AAA releases will likely be supporting 4K this generation. I could see some indie games and such utilizing 4K, but mostly simple games that won't over stress the GPU. You also need a 4K TV to really enjoy this feature which many people still don't have, which makes the feature for many people non-existent. You could look at it as future-proofing I guess.

The updated hardware will be nice, but most games run fine now, and it'll really be up to developers if they want to code in separate graphical presets for each system. It's not going to immediately take 30FPS games to 60FPS, or 720p resolutions to 1080p. That will all fall on developers, and I would imagine if a game is already locked at 30, they will keep it there unless they can get a solid 60. I doubt the upgrades will nearly double game performance. Might make some 30FPS games get a solid 45FPS or so, but I don't see developers capping games at 45FPS, they will most likely default down to 30FPS. You may get much fewer drops from 30FPS though, so that's a good thing.

Really just gotta wait for the announcement and pricing and see if it's worth the price increase over a regular PS4. For most, I don't think it will be, so these PS4 deals are still very good, and if you want a PS4 now, go for it, don't wait until November. Sure, prices on old consoles will drop when the new console comes, but by how much? And you can also play six months earlier. $50 or so to play six months earlier is an okay premium in my book. ~$8 per month.

Anyway, just go with what works for you. If you want to play now, don't worry so much about missing out on the upgraded console. If you want the latest and greatest, maybe it's best to wait.

It's crazy how well PS4 hold value. I got the Newegg BF deal last year for $250 just to play Bloodborne. I can probably sell it now and not really lose any money. It's like new obviously.

Good deal if want to play the whole Uncharted series, which if you haven't I would highly recommend. I just can't pull the trigger knowing the updated PS4 is probably coming later this year.

Simply because I don't like buying from ebay for warranty purposes and just in case I receive a defective console

Why not? Newegg is an authorized sony reseller...shouldn't be a problem for warranty purposes, right?
