This is a nice little enclosure for those cheap 240 ot 480gb ssd's if you want to have a portable drive or a quick backup/recovery. I don't own one but these should come close to maximizing SSD speed (400MB/s+) at 10GB/s

deal [everbuying.net]

$16 + free shipping w/ coupon code SSDBOX and new account w/ verified email (extra $2.20 off)

comes out of Asia, so please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery

yes, reliable, i have gotten things from them inside 18days, i think 3-4 is more conservative on my part and happens when batteries are involved

Quite unique - but its speed will be capped by USB 3.0 speeds. Why would it need a USB-C port at all?

What makes you say the speed will be capped at 3.0? It says it has a 3.1 controller. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think as long as you're using a Type C cable you should be able to get the full speed.

define flimsy? it's metal and once it closes, it offers pretty tight fit? get a foam case to store it...

This is much better and at lower price. Ships from US and Prime eligible.

Seems SD has become dumping ground for everbuying.com

USB-C is just a form factor...nothing to do with speed. The controller is what matters.

Important note:
UASP support makes an enormous difference in performance. It's especially noticeable when you have many files.
I highly doubt this unit has UASP support, which will probably end up being the bottleneck.
I've found even USB 2.0+UASP ends up being faster than USB 3.0 straight up.

Does it support UASP? Or does 3.1 negate any bottleneck now of BOT? I'm thinking IOPS

I don't believe it needs UASP (correct me if I am wrong). Other models I saw that were same as these, all had read/write speed closer to max...

From personal experience, UASP makes a very big difference.
I have a MyDigitalSSD USB3-SATA (UASP) and a few normal USB3-SATA.
Even when connected to a USB2.0 port the UASP wipes the floor with the normal ones.

Albeit it's only really noticeable when you have to copy many files. Copying single large blobs wasn't really as noticeable.

Note: I've not had the chance to try out any equivalent USB 3.1 hardware.
