I had recently set up my VZ voicemail and automatically became enrolled in their "visual voicemail" feature that's like $2.99 per month. But this is nothing new, for anyone who had set up their voicemail before may not have been affected. Anyhow, I had to contact Verizon to make sure they remove this piece of crap. Again, all I did was simply set up my voicemail and it automatically enrolled me into this POS.

But today, I noticed something weird again when a screen popped up on my phone that said "Verizon Caller Name ID" and asked if I wanted to use it for free for 10 days. No decline options were presented. Just out of precaution, I went on to Verizon Chat to ask if any of my 3 lines had this, and sure enough, ALL THREE were signed up automatically.

This would have been another $2.99 per line per month.

I had to get them to remove it and asked how the heck I get enrolled in this crap.
This rep initially said that it usually happens when a plan changes. what BS, I never touched anything on my acct. Asked again and insisted that she give me an answer.

She said this is a new feature that they rolled out, and gave all the members a free 10 day trial.

So if you have a smartphone under regular Verizon service, I suggest you check for it in your account as well to have these crap removed.

Ridiculous how they're trying to pull this crap on people for services so darn frigging basic. Who the heck needs to pay for a voicemail and a caller ID?

Sprint does it too. I get add ons added to my Sprint account every month. I call every month to demand they remove these unauthorized changes/charges. Feds do nothing about it.

I use Google Voice as my voicemail app on my Verizon LG G4 to get visual voicemail for free. I'd be pissed.

Or until they get sued enough times...that's why i support class action lawsuits, even if the attorneys are the major beneficiaries

Oh, no doubt Verizon is evil, like most mega-corporations. Problem is, these SOBs usually have "mandatory arbitration" terms that prevent most lawsuits. But I agree: massive and repeated class actions are needed to severely damage their dividends, hopefully leading to compelled change.

Man I wish people would stop using Verizon because they need "coverage". I'd rather have no service than pay them any money. Is it so bad to disconnect from the world?

I have been with Verizon for many, many years. Not a single issue to this point.

I think this only happens with Android devices. I had to switch to Android from iPhone for 2 weeks and immediately saw this extra service b.s. occur, even without changing plans, just activating a new phone. I switched back to iPhone and none of this b.s. occurred.

I'm on verizon

standard practice but there is usually an option to bypass the "free 30 day trial" which avoids premium visual VM all together. just be a little more careful where you click during setup.

I have 6 Android smartphones on my account and not one of us had premium VM snuck into our bill.

If you have a volte phone you will be automatically enrolled in a FREE version of visual voicemail. However it does offer you the option (via pop-up on phone) to subscribe to the paid version. You simply clicked your way through pop-ups without consideration to what you were doing. Non-issue as if you pay attention this will not happen.
