Ive owned this desk for about a year (bought it on Amazon for around 90), and for $60 its a great deal for an L shaped desk, but I wanted to point a few things out that ive noticed:

The lefthand side of the desk is narrow.. too narrow to effectively write on if theres anything else on the desktop. Being lefthanded, this is a problem.

After 6 months, the area where my forearms rest on either side of the center point of the desk have begun to wear away in the form of dots/specks. The dark finish has given way to the light brown particle board color. I figured this might happen so I actually tried to be careful about resting my arms on something like a newspaper instead of directly to the desk, but it didnt matter.

Be careful moving around things on the desktop, good chance it will scratch. I made it 8 months without scratches, but got careless and wound up with a few big ones.

If you put your tower underneath the desk where your feet go, its going to get cramped down there fast.

Your monitor is going to be somewhat close but not uncomfortable depending on size and setup. I had a desktop PC initially, with a 23" monitor. Set on a stand and pushed all the way back It wasnt a problem. I then started using my laptop in my office instead along with a 27". If i didnt have the laptop off to the left, forcing me to scoot farther back from the center point of the desk, it would be way too close.

The shelves are the perfect height for books and binders.

And lastly, took about an hour to build start to finish, and wasn't dfficult at all. Instructions were easy to follow.

Its no longer my workhorse mainly because of how narrow that left hand area is, but that may not be an issue while writing on the right hand instead.

If i rambled on I apologize, woke up to get some water and saw this post - figured id share my 2 cents.
I might have to start harvesting some Particle Trees if demand gets high enough. You don't even need a saw or axe. Just wet the bottom enough and push it over. Smilie
I am sure you also read the recent reports about fake ameriwood being found in Target stores with high levels of chromamagnatoric-diethelchromium-blisteristiclartherium from un-named non-ameriwood growing countries.

Just be very careful out there folks.

How deep is the desk? Looks like a pretty small area for a monitor and a keyboard.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who read those reports...

Anyways, according to some comments from Target's website, the desk is made of particle wood.

From some of the Amazon pictures, this look like a laptop desk rather than for a desktop. The monitor would be very close to your face for a desktop. It'll be okay if there's a place to put your keyboard underneath if not then there will be barely any space to put your keyboard.

It looks like the same desk as Altra Dakota L-Shaped Desk with Bookshelves [amazon.com] which was $69 a few week ago

I am typing on this desk right now. It can definitely fit 2 x laptops, 2 x 27" monitors, keyboard/mouse (actually mouse x3), and a lot of random stuff. I didn't put the full-size desktop under the desk but you can if you don't care about extra legroom on both sides of the table. The desk is very steady and relatively easy to assemble (no sledgehammer required). The board does not bend under typical load

The only complaints I have is
1) no keyboard tray
2) sharp corners (just corners, not the edges), I taped all the corners
3) can be a bit low. I know this has to do with the chair you use...

If your monitor base is quite large, it does waste a lot of real estate on the desk surface (probably 1/2 of the width on the narrow side where the laptop is in pic). You can work around it, put monitor in a corner, have only 2/3 of the base on the desk and secure it with mounting tape etc.
