I bought one from microcenter last year version with i7 5500u 8gb ram 1tb hdd 4k screen. I loved this laptop for a week. 4k screen is really stunning and enjoyed much. I have compared this one with dell inspiron 4k but toshiba is much better and similar to xps15 4k screen in terms of color reproduction and etc. Harman/Kardon speaker is also beyond the expectation as a laptop speaker. It plays quite high quality sound. This is not light laptop roughly 5lbs. But the overall appearance/design is much better than the similar price range consumer level laptops such as dell inspiron or lenovo edge etc.

From my hand after a week, it didn't get turned on. So I had to return it and i didn't want to do any venture with a replacement. Actually the worst problem was the fan noise. It randomly turns on even when there is no task running and the only option is off or full speed. You hear the full speed fan sound randomly even when cpu is almost idle.. I couldn't handle this regardless of all good features of this laptop. I guess this 6th gen model has the same problem based on one star review in bb.

You can find the same problem in toshiba forum site.

I guess this fan noise issue has a rather long history and toshiba seems to ignore these complaints.
Good luck on your buy.

good deal but 4k on a 15.6 is kinda pointless

Can anyone vouch for the build quality on this machine? Is the integrated graphics ok compared to a dedicated card? Need to upgrade my laptop to work from home and watch movies thru HDMI on the big screen occasionally. Also want to start video editing.

Negative...4K is awesome even on 13.3...

this thing has amazing hardware for $550...only two problems are toshiba and pretty weak on size and weight (5lb is pretty heavy especially with only 3 cell).

That said, brand new for $550 is a good deal, thumbs up. But 5400 non hybrid Hard drive has no place with this other hardware, will need replaced immediately.

screen sounds like it would be beautful, but a few reviews saying light bleed and dead pixel issues on this model. It is a bestbuy exclusive model, so maybe they cheaped out on a few things for this price point?

Are you joking? Putting TV chart here? Has no bearing at all. The resolution is for productivity. I use two to three excel workbooks simultaneously on my 15" 3k laptop. Try doing that on your 1920.

It's actually on the heavy side...not too good to be true, but a solid deal.
