I've had 3 of these for 2 years now. They are connected to vera lite hub thats in my basement. I have them set to lock 5minutes after the door is closed using a zwave door sensor. I used to ahve them set to lock 1minute after unlock based on the handle but it would lock while open sometimes and was always afraid someone would close it and do some damage. That being said the front door which we of course use far more than the others I have had to replace the batteries twice in 2 years. The back and garage door I have replaced once each. Overall in my opinion thats not bad at all. Also I just used the cheap rayovac batteries that I bought from best buy.

I love these locks and highly recommend them. I even bought this for my moms house.

Anyone know if Schlage makes something like this with dual cylinders? I need one of these but on the inside of the door, need a key instead of the turn knob. Tried looking on their website but didn't see anything like that.

My personal experience with battery-driven deadbolts (though a different brand)-- I have a quikset keypad lock I bought a few months ago and I have had to change the batteries once. Two of my three kids probably engage the motor on the device more than necessary. Sure, the purpose of these things is convenience, but unless you can hard wire it, or those super batteries [computerworld.com] become available to consumers, I would anticipate changing batteries regularly (every several months or so) if you're going to engage the locking mechanism using only batteries.

YMMV, of course.

Just changed the batteries for the first time. It lasted 9 months with a lot of use. I have the door lock automatically in 30 secs and let the auto lock work most of the times.
