Check your power company offers. I'm in central TX... power supplier is offering $115 back in bill credits for using Nest and signing up for their 'demand' program (they can bump your temperature setting up by 1-2° during peak afternoon demand... you can manually bump it back down if you choose).

I've been waiting for this deal to come back for just that reason. My power company is only doing $100, but $100 out of pocket is a great deal on this ($94 including eBay bucks, etc.). Thanks!

Looks like Xcel Energy in MN and CO will give a $50 check.

is this an official reseller of Nest? Full Warranty? Does that matter?

Google tracks enough of my metadata. I don't need them knowing when I get off the couch too. There's a reason they paid $3.2B for a company that makes thermostats--and you're the reason. Pass.

coserv (in north TX) gives $100 credit for every nest installed in home and $40 for every year there after.

I've got a thermostat that doesn't have a C wire. All I did was connect the fan wire as the C wire. Can I do that with a Nest???? Seems like a good deal.

Found this for DTE:

By wiring C wire to fan will work, but not the most optimal way. C wire is used to charge the thermostat. When you do that, Nest will turn on your fan to recharge itself, which could be annoying.
