Eh, I'm reading that it is more preference. I have a badger hair brush now, but given how cheap this is, may try this out for Boar.

Nope. Badger is superior. No question. I did give this a thumbs up though. It is a good deal for what it is. A good basic badger brush will be two or three times this price. A silver tip will be a lot more.

People here [shavenook.com] don't seem to think it is quite so clear cut. Honestly, don't know how reputable site that is, so take that for what it's worth.

I recently bought a Vuflix 374. I think I prefer a stiffer brush. Granted there are probably other badger hair brushes that are stiff, but I'll see how this boar brush is.

From my understanding synthetic<boar<badger. I am not a person who collects brushes, so I only have experience with synthetic and badger. My current brush is an Edwin Jagger Badger brush and it has been working great for several years with only a few hairs lost. Boar is supposed to be more stiff and brittle, but like I said, I am not basing it on experience, just hearsay.

Also, the Amazon reviews are mixed on this brush.

I have a very good silver tip badger brush. But I just bought an Omega pure boar brush cause I wanted to see the difference.

I'd get the Tweezerman badger brush from amazon for about the same price if I were in the market for a new shave brush that doesn't cost a lot.

I prefer boar over badger despite the 2 week break in time, and yes I have an expensive wilson badger... it's all about personal preference

I just ordered Boar to compare.

Why do you prefer Boar?

Some mentioned Synthetic brushes. First brush I had was Omega Synthetic. I found it WORTHLESS.

Meh. No brush type is really superior. It ultimately depends on what you like.

I have a $90 silver tip brush. It's pretty good. I use it a lot.

I have a $25 Semogue 830 boar. It's probably my most used brush.

I have one of those L'Occitaine Plisson brushes. It's like lathering with a cloud. I mostly use it while traveling, since it dries so fast. If one has sensitive skin, it's hard to beat a Plisson-ish knot.

I also have an Omega 10048, which is this brush without the Proraso name put on it. It's huge and stiff. It likes hard soaps and bowl lathering. It will probably outlast me. You can often find them for just over $10. There are much worse brushes for 2x - 3x the price. It's ideal for a n00b (cheap), or the ladies shaving their legs (holds lots of soap).
