We bought this two weeks ago at the same price from the same company. No tax, no shipping sealed the deal, plus the great reviews. (See http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/uh8500.) The only issue reported consistently is that this is edge lit LED, not full array backlit LED, but that to be expected given the price versus current full backlit models. The upshot is that the local dimming isn't great. We didn't care because we never turn the lights down very low, which is when it is most noticeable. We also wanted this because it has an IPS panel instead of a VA panel and for our living room setup the wider viewing angle was a must.

Not obvious in the listing is that this is a 3D set--we didn't even know that until after we bought it. Not a great bonus but ridiculously fun for the few films that come out nowadays in passive 3D.

If these features are deal breakers then consider waiting for the Vizio M-Series 2016 model (http://www.vizio.com/m65d0.html). With a list price of $1,499, full backlit LED with 64 zones, and VA screen maybe it's got the right features for you. Problem is, nobody quite knows when it will ship. Also, the new Vizio doesn't have a TV tuner, so no Over the Air (OTA) with an HD antenna, which, if you haven't seen it, is really quite incredible on these upscaling 4k machines. On a whim I attached our 4 year old unpowered HD antenna and got 60 channels, 30 of them in stunningly good upscaled HD. Local news and sports never looked better.

seems like a good deal compared to amazon's pricing, thumbs up for that, and TV has good reviews.
I just don't understand why none of the deals lately don't include the 70+ inch TVs... good deals always stops at 65" for LG and Samsung

Get the Vizio P, it's much better if you're going to save a few bucks.

In for a 65" one, I wanted a passive 3D TV. What's the best warranty to get with such a TV? Square trade? Also, how long did it take someone who bought this set from Beach Camera to ship ?

It only took 9 days to arrive but they quoted much longer, 2 or 3 weeks.

How was the shipping process? Did they schedule a time or did they just show up without notice?
