Hate to be that guy, but I'm going to mention the prices at Microcenter for the uninitiated. You can get an FX6300 with board for $100 (usually $90 AR), an i5-4690k/H81 for ~$210 or an i5-6600k/H110 board for ~$235, or an H170/Z170 for ~$265 (usually $10-30 less AR).
prolly about the same as frys lol

If you get this, I believe you'd need to buy a graphics card. Your current chip is a APU, while I believe this FX-6300 is a CPU only.

It'd be a huge upgrade, but as Porcupanda says, you need a separate GPU

how is a 1500 point increase in cpu passmark consider to be "huge"?
personally i don't consider "huge" unless it is about twice the increase. e.g.

it would be a upgrade form M/B point of view, since you can take advantage of the AM3 over FM2, which would actually be a reason to upgrade.

and why not just wait for Zen? if for nothing else, the new M/B will pave the way for any future upgrades to come. at a matter of fact, as of today, i simply fail to see any AMD offers that would be attractive other than their APU series for this price. i had a system build 4 years ago with 100 dollar i5-2400 with a 10 dollar LGA 1155 board form frys. i just don't see any "hotness" in this deal whatsoever.
