The new stick is as powerful as the 3. The only thing you get with the 3 is Ethernet and the voice control and headphones with the remote. However with the new stick you can get voice control and private listening via the app. So it's really just the ability to hard wire to the internet. Compared to the current 2, the 2 also has Ethernet, but the remote for the 2 is just plain IR so you have to use it in line of sight.

I prefer the Roku over the amazon.

Amazon is fine but they push their products over general usage. While with the roku all the channels seem to be listed and treated the same.

If you have amazon prime and buy most things from amazon then they are ok. But I like the more open and easy access with the roku.

Quick Q: I'm a Roku owner since Gen 1 in 2008...is there any reason to buy the box over the stick? Surely the price difference means yes, but I can't get it straight. We're still using a couple of Roku 2 with the old IR remotes, not Wifi.

Roku has far more legit apps but can't be hacked. If you want Kodi then you'd want the Amazon. My personal opinion is if you want hacked apk files and a legit Kodi app find a used Google Nexus player for $40-$50 dollars as its way easier for hacking.

I will cry the day they finally release a roku without an ethernet port. I know it is coming, but DAMN, my rokus in a wired environment work so damn well...

Wonder if the integration is better with a Roku TV compared to this, connected to a regular TV?
