The school I work for purchased a large number of Acer Chromebooks a little over a year ago. While they are not the exact model as these I would caution people away from Acer. We have had about a 15% failure rate and I fully expect it to only increase. They only have a one year warranty. My friends and I have used various Acer products before and none of us have been very impressed with them. If you are looking for a Chromebook that will last I would suggest an HP branded one. We have purchased a large number of these and, so far, they have not had any issues at all.

This is a strange post...Acer is the #1 manufacturer of Chromebooks and your failure rate is suspect at best. Work for HP or something? Anyways, you would see a ton of negative reviews of Acer products if what you're saying were true, but in fact you see just the opposite.

I think I'd still choose my Toshiba Chromebook 2015. Rather have the sd card slot and back-lit keyboard over the aluminum case and 32gbs. But glad it wasn't available when I decided to buy.

Had ordered during the last price drop, but hasn't shipped yet. CS via chat said they won't adjust to this lower price and they can't cancel the order at the moment.

Agreed. We've had 2 acer chromebooks over the past few years. They've lasted more than 2 years a piece and the only reason we had to replace the first one was that a kid dropped in on the floor and the screen cracked. Wasn't worth replacing the screen at the time since chromebooks are so cheap (duh, that's the point).

I don't know about the HP, but my Dell CB13 feels like a tank, plus it has the 1080p IPS screen, and backlit keyboard.

any school issued devices get abused to no end.

they also get refurbished quickly and put right in another student's hands.

it's quite a different situation than a new device sold directly to a consumer.

Almost 100% positive reviews on this model on Amazon, when you put down a particular brand and recommend another it is always suspicious.
