Standard disclaimer as noted in alomst every HP server deal post:
As of 2014, once warranty expires, HP requires an active service contract if you want BIOS updates for business systems (e.g. servers, "business" laptops and workstations).
If HP has a bug or security issue in their BIOS - which has happened more than once in recent years on these servers - and you don't have a service contract, you're SOL. Factor that in when you look at the price of an HP server, and make sure it works for you.

Almost all (IBM?) other server manufacturers don't charge for BIOS updates.

Was just looking for a cheap build that I can use to monitor several CCTV DVRs then this showed up. I'm gonna throw in a 3-monitor video card and a 430W PSU and just leave it running 24/7. This should do the trick right?

You could probably find a graphics card that would work with the standard PSU.

The PSU uses a proprietary connector, I believe, so it's not as simple as it may seem, but can be done.

Thanks for the link! Hopefully it won't come down to it, but I'll be ready just in case. I'm working with parts that I already have on hand so it's worth a shot!

this had some negative reviews on amazon for being noisy. I'm thinking maybe i should get the dell t20 instead? This has a vga port only too which is quite annoying.

I just got one. The fan is only noisy during boot up and the boot up is slow as it has a lot of checks.

The server is meant to be headless so the VGA port isn't too much of an issue.

how can they use the term server in their ad. it has all of the qualities of a standard desktop and not one of a server.
