Today I observed a swimming pool water truck like this : http://www.clpitcher.com/images/p...uck002.jpg doing 55mph in a 30 mph zone that went through two school zones. My little sports car was working to keep up with him through the twists and turns of the backroad we were on.

When I got back to my desk I called his company up with his plate number and sent them the video, which my current camera logs the gps speed.

They took it very seriously and I hope that driver will not be let back out on the roads around here without some serious training.

Without the camera I'm just some random person complaining about the driver.

With the video they can see their company 18 wheeler FLYING down a tiny back road, going over the double yellow multiple times and seeing with their own eyes how if ANYONE were to pull out infront of this driver by mistake (or be walking, or biking, or a kid chasing a ball) they would be dead without a chance.

They emailed me back thanking me for the video and the report.

The real reason I have it though is to be prepared for the countless situations that can happen on a road where the person who causes the accident blames you and it might actually look like it's your fault till the video comes out showing that they are the one in the wrong.

I brought this the last time around for $99. The video quality is great but the cam just crashes way too often. It would suddenly shut down while I am driving, forcing me to restart it every time it does. I haven't encountered any other issues but this issue alone has made me wish I got something else instead.
Same main IC and CMOS sensor for $10 cheaper. As with most Chinese market electronics, they are all the same but with different BS names and outer casing.

I purchased two of these from the prior deal. have been very pleased with the video and audio quality. not a fan of the silver in the front, but a bit of black paint cures that. definitely recommend.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago. So far, so good.
It is not as discrete as others but seems to work well.
My only issue, not with this camera, is that the power is always on on my cigarette lighter port so I have to manually plug the camera in and out. I would be nice to have an easier way to power these at the right time automatically.

Another Slickdealer recommend me the KDLinks DAshcam(http://www.amazon.com/KDLINKS-X1-...ds=kdlinks)

How does this compare. Being that it is $60 cheaper? Anyone have this one or the KDlinks?

Thanks ahead.

These things barely consume any power at all. You can leave it running all night and your car battery would still be fine

Is the quality good enough to read license plates?

Personally, I would prefer separate lens and dvr unit. With just the lens on the windshield, it is more discreet and lighter (easier to mount). Also gives the possibility of multiple cameras and angles with one dvr.
