Diatomaceous earth (de) is made of tiny, fossilized diatoms (aquatic organisms) that accumulated over millennia in fresh water lakes. When mined and left untreated, this amazing product can be used in hundreds of different ways. However, not all diatomaceous earth is created equal. While most other manufacturer's hand scoop de into zip lock bags, diatomaceous earth brand de is professionally packaged using stainless steel equipment. Because of this process, you can be confident there are no contaminants in your food grade diatomaceous earth.

Just because you had no idea that this existed doesn't make it a fad. DE has been popular with organic gardeners for decades. But that's a fad. Its just catching on in the mainstream because of a common distrust of poisons these days.

Lets see, my grandmother sprayed DDT above the kitchen table in the summer home. My dad decided that if Diazanon could work outside it must work even better inside. Both are now banned from use. Now Atrazine in coming out to be super dangerous. Some people just don't want to run the risk, so DE is one of the few options remaining that is completely harmless.
Works on bedbugs!!! I bought a 5 pound bag for $14 from Amazon. Couldn't be happier to have invested into this option after doing some research for my bedbug infestation problem. It took me only 1 pass and it has wiped them out completely and no traces of them and it has been 7 months since I saw a bed bug in my apartment. I can sleep peacefully knowing they won't come back!

Doesnt it get expensive for sprinkling this tiny bag over your entire garden?

No not on fleas or bedbugs but ants. They work on all insects was the Diatomaceous crystal cutting their shell and drying them out. Dying very slowly. I test it on ant and it takes about 15 to 20 mins to stop them and with in 50 to 60 mins they are dead.

They work great is it 100% nature and safe around pets and baby and toddlers. If you get the food grade you even eat them. I really like them as I have a 4 year around the house and always playing on the floors.

I paid $20 last year and I only used like 1/10 of it. I also got a duster with another website to apply the "dust" around the house and outside of ant mounts.

This was the duster I used: http://www.amazon.com/Dust-R-Mode...ust+puffer

I pay about $25 for it. When you get it use small gravels to help break up or loose the dust inside. Shop around as some other generic is much cheaper in price.

No you needed very little of it when using a duster. Be careful if you got good bugs like ladybugs as it will "too" kills them.

Some people make 3% of the food they eat be diatomaceous earth. There are claims at parasite control, longevity and all sorts of perks. I know that food grade diatomaceous earth is used heavily in storing grains - so you are probably already eating lots of diatomaceous earth every time you eat any bread, pasta or other grain based food.

My wife tells me to sprinkle some Diatomaceous Earth on the salads I make, so I do.

It is pretty light, so 10 pounds is maybe 1 cubic feet.

Tried using this for a mysterious flea infestation (we have no pets!). I sprinkled it all over the affected rooms. It's a very light dust and gets messy quickly. The whole room will be hazy with dust after you're done. I left it overnight and then vacuumed the next day. It did almost nothing against the fleas. In fact, while vacuuming this room absolutely caked in this dust, I was bitten again! I even trapped a flea on a sticky pad and sprinkled diatomaceous earth directly on it as a test; the flea was still kicking hours later. I then bought two cans of Raid and went to town. Flea problem gone.

I did! When I j bought my house in 2014, I used a duster to disperse this in every room, under the base boards, into the vents, everywhere. After we moved our furniture in, we vacuumed everywhere that wasn't covered with furniture and left the remaining powder to do its thing. We saw dead bugs everywhere (spiders, crickets, millipedes, fleas). Since then, I haven't seen a single live bug anywhere. I also coated my Saint Bernard in the stuff every few days, and his fleas disappeared.
