Should be fine. Reviews are decent. Make sure you get the "all-purpose" model with interchangeable choke tubes.

You'd be better off with a Mossberg 500, a bit better quality than the Maverick 88.

Mossberg or remington 870 are the classic starters. moss berg less than 200 a decent deal. Both have lots of aftermarket parts/mods. I have a savage 12 gauge that does come in a combo with two barrels you can switch, I like it, was <200. Most guns will work fine, probably a value in sticking with a common like remington or mossberg, would be easier to trade in anywhere. Savage has US support and I have asked them to send me a part I lost and they sent it free.

savage 320 hunter" 175$

Savage combo 2 barrels, buy and be done, my vote for best value 199$

maverick 88 179$

Remington 870, the classic starter, good if you like to stick to the "brand", for the price range you have to go used 259$

Buy usa or chinese, the stevens is equal or better quality even though made by sun manufacturing for savage. The customer service is equal or better from savage. What is more american, capitalism and buying a value for better price, or a made in the Usa sticker made somewhere from foreign made parts by a union worker with a sticker put on in that adds 25$ to the price. Ill pay for the sticker and the thought but how much is it worth to you.
