Great price. Excellent Price. But, that's only if they honor it. It seems that the only legitimate $499 (before rebate) tele is the one made of Pine. However, this link takes you to a $499 Alder guitar. If I click off the Alder option to any wood other than Pine, the guitar is $1800! If I click back onto Alder, it shows up as $1800.

If this link works, it is one hell of a deal. However, I'd be wary that Adorama will send the Pine version, which is the only version that is actually $499.

If they send Alder, you've just gotten the best guitar deal in the history of this website.

Update: When I click off Alder and click back to Alder, the price not only changes, but it also changes to a different Alder guitar (different color, different model, etc.) I don't know what the linked guitar actually retails for anymore.

Alder one is $619 on Amazon as I write this, $499 isn't totally out of line. That said, the Adorama cart doesn't seem to spell out all the options selected. The part number in the cart goes to an alder edition though.

If you change materials it is actually changing you over from classic player to some of the real Teles, which is why the price is jumping.

I see what you mean because I am also really confused by this!

I searched for the SKU on Ebay and found this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-...1792109027

Which is $799 and Alder from the same company.

This one is really a crapshoot. Your link comes up with the Alder one selected, however if you click Alder again, it jumps to $1799. When you add to cart, there is no indication of the options selected on the cart item, then when you click the item in the cart, it links back to a Black Alder guitar, but at $799.

I suppose if you kept screenshots, you could object if they sent something other than the alder, but then they could just call it a price mistake and void everything.

The numbers match on the rebate form, however.

I bought this, the Fender Triple Tele, at $499 (before the rebate). It is indeed Alder. It's a great deal for what it is... used to sell for $799 everywhere before clearance pricing. The guitar is on clearance and as of a couple days ago, no longer shows on Fender's website. It clearly wasn't a popular model with the 3 bridge pickup setup. I bought it with the intention of turning it into a "normal" tele with a NoCaster neck pickup, 3-ply BWB pickguard and a 3-way switch. It was an easy mod, other than having to route for the neck pickup. Now I have a great sounding, vintage-spec Tele with the best Tele pickups Fender makes for a fraction of the price of a similar model. I'm happy!

Why so unpopular? Does adding a middle pickup affect the tone that greatly? Is it that most tele players just see a middle pickup as sacrilege?

I've got a brand new Eastwood Hi Flyer Phase 4 on eBay for $460 shipped. Cheapest place besides me is Amazon for $700. When I say new, I mean new, still in the box with all the stuff, still has retailers warranty. Selling new guitars for a local record shop that closed down their instruments section. Sold 2 of this model and this is the last one.

Great deal with excellent price if it is the Alder. But I have no idea why the price changes when I click the Alder. The price will up to $1800 instead of $460 showed on this link when I cilck the Alder option to any wood other than Pine.

I have an old one which is also the Alder received from my dad as a birthday gift. It sounds very very good with high quality and fashionable design, and I love it so much. But it was broken by my cousin several weeks ago. That is why I want to buy another one. Only if its price is $460. Is there coupons?
