This is an excellent card, it has a good cooler and very positive reviews on Newegg. This definitely hits a sweet spot in providing the most power per dollar spent.

I'm in the market for a video card too... but I don't know. This is a very solid deal, but in the past there have been deals that also include a game or something extra like that... I haven't shopped for video cards in years though, maybe those really slick package deals don't exist anymore?

edit: You can potentially save another $5 by purchasing $100 in Amazon credit and getting a $5 bonus, see here for details. http://slickdeals.net/f/8523273-get-a-5-credit-for-reloading-your-amazon-com-gift-card-balance-with-100-or-more-ymmv?v=1&src=sticky

Not all Amazon accounts qualify, but mine happened to work. That brought the price down just enough for me to feel good about buying it.

Gtx 1070 and 1080 will be released in a week, i anticipate a significant price drop in these (hopefully $30-50 or more). Will prob get the 970 if it is<$200. Or....might just cough up the extra and get the 1070 for $380-400

$165 isn't bad for a 4GB 960. Would probably be an instant buy with no rebates involved. In general though with the 950 being out the 960 makes less sense than the 950->970 choice.

1080 is May 27 Founder's edition
1070 is sometime in June

It would be better to at least wait for 1070 benchmarks, which should push whatever cards it beats under its price of 449 for Founder's edition. Also, IIRC in 2 weeks at Computex AMD will announce Polaris, which is aimed at budget/entry level VR gaming, not to compete with 1080. 1080 competition would be Vega to be released in Q4 this year. Now is truly not the time to buy anything other than niche cards such as 750ti and 950 sans power pin.

Same here. I'm building a system for a family member and targeting the 970 for his budget. Although that's a $300+ card. Not sure we will see sub $200 pricing on that.

You do know that they had the zotac one from jet for 140 without rebate for the 4gb version (before the 1080 launch annoucement) so I do not find this to be a slick deal... If this was 970 then yea.
The going price for 960 should be 100 for 2gb and 120 for 4gb now

I did get one for 175 last week, the seller on jet doesnt have any more else I would have posted that deal.

Nice present for my cousin as a graduation present! more gaming to ruin his grades!

Not a great pricing.... I picked up a 970 Open Box @ Microcenter for $200 recently, but $165 for a 4gb 960 isn't bad. I've had a 2gb 960 in my HTPC for a year and it chews through anything I want to play on my TV no problem.

The GTX 960 is probably not going to drop anymore directly from the release of the 1080 and 1070 as they are not even in the same category.

Like saying the new Porsche is coming out so don't buy your VW yet.

Of course it will, the 960 and the 10xx series are in the same company. I am not comparing apples to oranges like your comparison. I am comparing a nice big juicy fuji vs a small granny apple. The difference? The year, technology dips in price when a new line of models come out. Yes there is a significant difference in power, but if the 970 drops then the 960 will probably drop some as well. The 970 will drop because there is a 1070. If you compare performances, don't forget to include the fact that the 1070 is expected to be COMPARABLE to the titan, a <$400 card vs a $1000 card.

What's up with car analogies? Why no programmer or mathematical analogy?
