It's actually 2-3 times a year...

This has ALWAYS been the case as far back as I can remember.
Usually Backcountry.com, campsaver.com, campmor.com and moosejaw.com are forced to offer matching 20% off. I usually find better deals there and save on taxes. Most have free shipping over $50 (moosejaw uses shoprunner).
REI has the benefit of ship to store and liberal one year return policy which is a nice benefit if you want to demo a product not normally in stock (backpack, tent, etc. and you have a local REI).
I don't get emails from REI, I get something in the actual mail, which sometimes my spouse files into the recycle bin before I get to see it. Sometimes I forget about it a few days after receiving it, so this could act as a reminder to others too. And it also gives notice to those that aren't members which may get them to sign up.

Sorry it bothered you so much.

SMALL PRINT: Dividend does not apply, so this is really only 10% off.

Sneaky REI....typical retail sneaky BS these days.

No such thing as a slickdeal anymore unless it's a glitch / price mistake....

Why do you post something that everyone to whom it applies (REI members) have already (and will continue to get) emails about? And should e very familiar with, if they have been members for any amount of time, as this is a regular occurrence (just like "double coupons on Wednesdays")

Once the coupon is valid, and you find a SPECIFIC product which creates an ACTUAL slick deal, then by all means post it! But until then ... what is the point? Confused
