A word of warning though, the Windows install is apparently Chinese-only until you go download some more language packs.

Teclast X80 Pro batch that we did last time was from banggood.com, thread here: http://slickdeals.net/f/8686975-32gb-teclast-x80-pro-8-dual-os-tablet-87-free-shipping

Mine is working fine. The biggest complaint I have about it is that it charges rather slow, even when turned off. Like 3x slower than my 10 Android phones I use for software development. The WiFi signal seems a bit weak - it doesn't see some nearby SSID's (2ghz) that other devices seem to show. The 4K30FPS over HDMI does work! Great machine for playing Zen Pinball games (Star Wars), etc. Some people noted that it lacks GPS hardware - so wouldn't recommend it for automotive use. But it works fine in Android with the WiFi location for using Google Maps to plan trips before I walk out with my mobile phone. For the money, it has newer CPU and GPU than what Walmart/KMart are selling near this price range ($78 http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nextboo...e/43267399 ); so you will see a lot of discounted Atom Z3735G tablets right now.

Thanks for the review. I'm toying with the idea of getting a TeClast/Chuwi/Onda Windows tablet for a bit of work and and a bit of play. I think the 10" size would be perfect, plus the extra RAM and ROM would be helpful.

Yha, on the 10" I'd see what's out there with Z8500 CPU. This 8" has the Z8300 which is limited to only 2GB of RAM. But doubling of the RAM (4GB) and FLASH (64GB) seems to put you in the $200 price range instead of $80. Personally, in $200 range I would hope that they are on Android 6 and not stuck on 5.1 like most of these seem to currently be... as Android 7 is already out in developer hands on Nexus devices (and a handful of other non-Nexus devices). With Windows 10, that's less an issue as it is much more user upgradable than Android when it comes to installing drivers/etc. Android 6 was released back in October, so there really isn't an excuse as to why vendors aren't upgrading - especially with Intel GPU drivers, etc. They are just not bothering...

The 10" versions of those China tablets all have the Z8300, too. The new generation of Asus Transformer T100 has the Z8500 but that 720p resolution screen. Is there that great of a performance gap between the Z8500 and the Z8300 for spreadsheets, email, and online databases?

I was curious about this too.

$235 to step up to the X98 Pro (@ blocked site Smilie ) which has the z8500 (plus all the other extra spec of course)

Absolutely a performance gap, but not one thats going to kill spreadsheets/email/online databases in my opinion - of course, I'm only going by what I find online rather than personal experience, but thought this might be useful for some

The Z8300 can not go beyond 2GB of RAM. Which is total bottom-end for Windows 10 if you want to use full-blown web browsers like Chrome and Firefox.... On the Android side things are more optimized for 2GB - but that's still a low amount of RAM (the Nexus 7 2013 had that much RAM - 3 years ago). Which Walmart duplicated in horsepower with the Hisense Sero 7 Pro for $130 (back in 2013).

The cost of the chip itself, the Z8300 vs. Z8500 is about $25 vs. $30! So only $5 difference. And to have 4GB of RAM vs. 2GB is only maybe $15 extra. So, in theory, someone could make the same tablet slightly faster (turbo speed) with 4GB of RAM for only $40 more (including some overhead). But it never seems to happen Wink Instead, these companies make all these variations with different amount of FLASH storage and screens. They could also add a second micro SDCard slot for like $1. But you almost never see this also Wink

They all kind of get tunnel-vision on copying each other's products and you see them ignore the low-hanging fruit. When Android phones are shipping with 3GB and 4GB of RAM these days - who would think you would want less in a tablet? K-Mart, Walmart, Big Lots are full of these devices under dozens of brands. It's a weird market. I wish there was one with decent Android ROM support, but there doesn't seem to be any winner. The Windows 10 side is pretty good if you ask me - the video drivers allowed me to run dual screens like a normal laptop, etc.

There are quite a few 10" tablets on eBay boasting 4GB RAM and the Z8300, like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/301901401...EBIDX%3AIT
