This monitor or Samsung S32D850T? Which is better for photo/movie editing?

Got this a couple black friday's ago for around the same price. Monitor is pretty solid, and works well enough for gaming (I'm far from hard core). Speakers are crap compared to even a basic 2.1 system, but you don't have to use them.

Yah. I've never understood why monitors need speakers. It's not a TV for a reason. I'd happily pay less for a good monitor without speakers. There's always super cheap speaker deals for 10 bucks that are as good or sometimes better.

Amazon reviews seem to point to the Samsung due to better quality control. Otherwise I do believe they share the same panel. I bought the Samsung for 390 for photo editing and productivity and love it. my two cents.

At this size wouldn't 4k be more appropriate?

I've read that super high resolution with smaller screen size leads to super small text.

you then have to enlarge text which makes the high resolution pointless.

I dont know a lot about displays so take what i say with a grain of salt.

Not everyone wants the clutter of having speakers on their desk, some people just need extremely basic speakers and it's more convenient if they're in the monitor which is why so many monitors include speakers. For instance my girlfriend is a graphic designer and does a good bit of work from home, she has no need for external speakers but the few times she needs to use speakers internal monitor ones work fine.

a lot of people like the convenience and sleekness of having it all built in. no extra cable mess, you know? makes a lot of sense. and many, many of these types of monitors will port the sound through an output so that you may use another set of speakers, should you so choose. that also helps with cable management because you'll have the ability to not be restricted by your desktop or laptop placement vs where the monitor sits. I think many people often assume that monitors these large are only used for desktops, though what about people who take their laptop on the go and dock it back to this setup when returning from a business trip? so many different situations we are all in though, so just try to look at it in that light. yeah, I like a solid external set of speakers too, but one can't help to argue the cleaner look of less crap on the desk. to each their own, right? and! sometimes power port restrictions/availability may be a concern.
