I can't seem to find any reviews on this system. Anyone know how this compares with the 8 channel Lorex system at Costco that comes with 2 extra cameras for the same price?

The $500 Lorex system is POE, 3MP cams and 2TB drive (very much digital). I might be referring to a different system tho. Do you mean this one?

Beycemessi: The Costco Lorex 8 channel are for analog cameras.

The digital cameras give superior images.

I'd love to buy this but I am reading reviews on Amazon and it seems that there are issues with remote viewing - mainly from the desktop browser which was disabled recently with a firmware update. Also reading some reviews that the iOS app is also very slow or will say that the cameras are offline.

Any previous customers have any input on the above or any info on the remote viewing?

I bought this camera system last time from Sam's. I have not experienced any issues with this system relating to IOS. I do not use a web browser for remote viewing. I got this system to upgrade my old Logitech Alert (720P) and LaVue analog systems. The new system was pretty easy to set up and start using.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the purchase in terms of picture quality and features for the price. One minor gripe: the night vision isn't as good as it was with the Logitech Alert system. I was thinking about buying a IR lamp to see if it help the visibility at night.

I purchased the 4 camera system in February for $200. I was skeptical at first since I couldn't find any reviews. However since I installed it, I love it. The iPhone app works great. Only thing That I don't like is that in order to view the system with the app, it has to be hard wired to the Internet. A wireless option would have been great. It would have saved me the pain of going through my house's firewalls.

Is the iOS app image quality good? Is it slow/laggy/pixelated?

In order to hard wire to the internet, do you just plug the DVR into your router?

lui1828 is correct.

brycemessi - you may want to check out this popular deal which features HD IP instead of analog:

Yeah you do, I had to run a ethernet cable from my wireless router to the DVR box. I have the DVR in another room than my router. Also the iOS I think works great, however it does shut down 9 out of 10 times when reviewing the DVR video. But most apps do these days

From Newegg. It was $300 with a $100 off. It says its 1080p. During the daytime it very crisp and clear, night time obviously not as good.

Is this the system you purchased?

Have you tried to hook-up a microphone and/or speaker?

TIA
