this is for my fellow runners: while looking for a new running watch i came across a flyer that was mailed to me by REI. Sale starts MAY 20th thru the 30th. Best price I have seen for the new 235 with HR monitor.

This is a great deal. I just picked it up yesterday from rei and found its a good upgrade from a 310xt. The hr seems pretty close to that of the chest strap.

Big Grin saw the sale about two hours ago when they sent the ad to email, don't have to post because you did Smilie. I actually was waiting for the REI anniversary sale ad specifically to look for a 235 sale... I received the mailer a few days ago but didn't bother looking through that and threw it away.

Bought a Fitbit Charge HR last year and it's already had band separation twice (second warranty replacement on the way, shipped today), figuring I will sell it and move on since the defect will probably show up each 3 months and it will be out of warranty later this year. The 235 seemed like the most decent replacement, haven't seen one in person yet, though. I was also looking at MS Band 2, but the GPS is reportedly very good on the 235 and I have been pretty annoyed lately with the GPS from my phone.

Looks like a good deal, seems hard to find these below MSRP. Best I could do otherwise was buy from nike.com with 15% cashback rebate or 20% Jet.com rebate (So, $264-280 + tax). This is approximately $30 cheaper plus another $25 REI rebate if you have an REI membership. There is no 10% dividend on anything with a 15% or larger discount.

Comes with 1yr warranty. If you have a Citi card, they've changed the benefits starting this week (5/15/2016) to add 2yrs to mfr warranty. So, 3yr warranty if you use a Citi card.

So does REI price match if you were to purchase now and go back?

Ha I guess wonder if it's worth it... Buy today with Citi credit card, get $36 REI dividend at end of year. Get 80 refund on price difference from credit card when the sale happens. Come out ~$30 cheaper! (you pay tax on the $80)

Around ~$220+tax that way... Seems a bit abusive but it's within the terms of Citi's program

Possible to get a scan of the ad? Any deals on the 230 by chance?

I bought this watch a week or so ago for $307 shipped. I'm very happy with it. I was previously using a Withings Activite.

That might be a stretch. For sustained running or resting heart rate, it's pretty good. From what I understand, it's bad for intervals.

I'm also getting different numbers for my resting heart rate in Garmin Connect and the watch. Garmin Connect says 52 which I have a hard time believing. I'm in shape, but not great cardio shape.

Wow! This is a great deal.

I bought this last week at Nike.com for $353 (tax included) but got a 15% or $49.50 rebate at eb8s. I did pay with Nike gift cards that I accumulated at mycokerewards, so I had no out of pocket and still am getting the $50 rebate. Otherwise, I would be all over this. Nike's ordering system sux big time.

This is a great deal on this watch. No doubt about that.
However, I have this watch and the HR function is pretty bad. You can't count on it. Garmin designers can be pretty bad. see the Garmin forums here for more detail: https://forums.garmin.com/forumdi...runner-235

Outside of the bad HR feature, the watch does great at everything else for runners. It gives you more than the Garmin 620 and all the important features of the 630 for a much lower price. It gives you steps, sleep, garmin connect cloud functionality, excellent GPS watch, downloadable third party widgets/apps, and a really crappy HR monitor. Overall.......this watch is tough to beat.

Is there any watch/wrist HR that's "Better" and avoids the problems? Seems I saw in some reviews it matched the chest strap exactly, but in others that it had issues -- guessing because of fit, and also sometimes noted the issues were "in the rain". Since it's optical sensor, there is some limitation just from the type of sensor and how well it stays in place while moving.
