Damn Epson 5030UB is included in offer and drops down to $1600 + Taxes - 3% Amazon rewards. That is the best deal ever without jumping hoops. I would be all over if I didn't have 5020UB.

Deserves another thread for Epson 5030UB lovers. Need Amazon Visa though. Maybe people can apply for $400 savings in itself.

best to wait for a bigger sale as this is often $699 (same for the Epson 5030UB which is reg price atm). code is good until June 30th.

awesome deal it's basically the 2045 minus the miracast option to stream like your Android or iPad wireless to projector. which I only use not very often.. I mean it's nice to quickly connect phone to projector and scroll trough my gallery to show family pictures on the big screen.. but I could live wihout...

awesome deal this or the 1070 are the best projectors you can get for the money but Epson is more bang for buck compared to 1070 or 1075...

it has the lowest lag input of any projector regardless of price which is around 23ms.. even better then tvs... it is very bright so can be used in living room, no rainbow effect which many people are sensitive to, bulbs are 79 oem I already stocked 3 and I run my projector really bright all day without worrying about hours on lamp... not as good blacks as 1070 but it's not a big difference, it's only downfall of less blacks doesn't apply to 3d as the blacks is very very good in 3d... the 3d is two times brighter then a dlp... so 3d looks awesome.. I can go on and on.

So, it sounds like you would recommend the Optoma based on that link?

I am looking for the cheapest projector I can get that is actually worth a darn. I'd rather pay $300-400, but it often seems like that price range gets you crap.

I've never owned a projector before and I don't really know what I should be looking for. Any advice on trying to narrow my search?

I looked at the same two projectors and ended up going with the Epson. The Optoma has a great picture, but I have issues seeing the rainbow effect, and the optoma only has a 2x color wheel. The epson is lcd, so no rainbow effect and the picture is also fantastic.

with the 2045 on sale at many places for $850 - $200GC (and no tax) those who dont have VISA rewards (and/or get taxed at Amz) can skip this.. or wait for a better sale on this.
