The combo v-brake rear, disc front is confusing, why does Walmart/China do that? FWIW I ride a Mongoose Malus (similar cheapo big box bike) about daily on the road and have taken it on snow (will be taking it on sand this weekend). Super fun and with the right set of upgrades and modifications it is an awesome bike. I expect something similar may be doable with this one.

I'm not saying it's something they should do, but generally the front brake takes a lot more of the work. So if anything, it makes sense to have the better braking system in the front.

I can agree with that. Just a bummer that you need 2 sets of replacement parts, though I'd hazard to say that most of these will never see a 2nd set of pads.

Purchased. My 12 year old is going to love it! The fact that he can use it in sand and snow is awesome. Based on reviews, the bike is better suited for "shorter" adults, which will be perfect for him.

I was just going to say that. Some reviews are saying if you are taller than 5'-9", the bike will feel too small. I'm 6'-3". So much for that. Bike looks cool though!

With all the political correctness nowadays, are we allowed to say "shorter" adults? Maybe "vertically challenged"? Or "tall" but everyone else is "taller"? Smilie

Mongoose Malus/Hitch/Dolomite if you want to keep it cheap, can be had under $200 if you're patient. I'm 6'2" and I fit fine. I'd ballpark the frame size at 18".

Amazon too - http://www.amazon.com/Mongoose-Me...gbase=abba

The dolo is the OG, Malus and Hitch have a few minor tweaks. I put maybe $80 worth of parts in mine and it's pretty solid. Requisite reading if you go that route - http://forums.mtbr.com/fat-bikes/...02410.html
