http://www.amazon.com/Bonavita-BV...avita+1800

This is the lowest price ever for this model according to camelcamelcamel. Even cheaper through 3rd parties at the moment.

The highly reviewed and popular BV1800 model has made the front page multiple times in the past month. This is the updated version with the stainless steel carafe.

Happy coffee drinking!

Damn, why isn't this thread getting the love it deserves? Great deal! Except I'm pissed because a couple of weeks ago, I got one through Amazon Warehouse Deals for $113. Had I just waited a bit. Any way, HUGE difference in quality of my coffee compared to the Cuisinart I had been using for the past several years.

why don't you contact customer service and ask them to adjust the price. They generally have no problem doing so or you can still return and re buy if it's worth it to you.

I have the cuisinart. It's a lot better? I've been reasonably happy with mine, but the bonavita gets great reviews for taste

I'd only get this if you are freshly grinding your own beans. There's no point to investing in a bonavita or Technivorm if you're just using preground grocery store coffee.

I do, both from trader joes and from my local coffee shop. I'm anxious to see what it can do with those beans, which are merely bitter with the cuisinart
Also, I like the lavazza whole beans when they come up on slickdeals
Pulled trigger on deal.

We received this puppy as a wedding gift recently. By far the best tasting drip coffee I've had.

That being said, it's not without its drawbacks. It only brews 8 cups, the carafe is a mess if you pour without the lid on it, it's impossible to get all the coffee out of the carafe due to the design, and the filter basket rests directly on the carafe.

I found that I need to use a separate pitcher to fill the water reservoir to keep the spilling to a minimum. Once your brewing is finished, you will need to put the cap on to pour coffee so it doesn't spill everywhere.

If those setbacks don't bother you, the coffee maker is fantastic. The carafe stays hot for hours inside the stainless steel. The shower head covers the ground coffee perfectly and there is a pre-bloom setting.

Next to a French press, this is the best way to make a normal cup of coffee.

Totally agreed. I purchased the 5 cups version from the Sears deal last time, it is the best coffee maker I ever have after years of trying many brands. You won't regret investing your money on this one. You will have to invest in a burr grinder and whole bean coffee though.

However, the carafe is the worst design I ever had. while it holds the coffee hot within hours, it's hard to pour without the lid on, and you would never get the last few OZ of coffee out of it because the stupid design.

I remember I've read somewhere if you complaint to Bonavita, they will send you a new design carafe, anyone knows if this is true?

I've heard that too. But I think they send you a new lid as some of the lids pour too slowly.

Sometimes, searching right here on SD will reveal the "cheapest" price. Posted on SD anyway.

A look at that will lead one to the retailer that Amazon's system is automatically price matching (see edit below)
Then, you can go to (Sears.com) and see that you can get it for less there AGAIN with available coupons, plus points back.

Edit: According to camel3x, the Amazon price early 5/19/16 was same as Sear's current $120.89. It has since changed a few times, now down to $118.40. So not sure which competitor they are price matching now.
Or...if Sears is price matching Amazon (but lagging behind with the price from 5/19) who was price matching some other retailer. laugh out loud

But still gonna be less at Sears after coupons and points back, like last time (2-3 weeks ago).

Coffee nerd here. This is what I own and at 180, it is not a purchase I regret. it is a competent design that you will be happy to use every day. This was the "easy/simple and a good temp" purchase. A precise thermometer shows a good temp (190) at the basket. The BETTER $200+ units get too complicated for family use very quickly. This is simple and does its job well.

Can you share details on Sears coupons / discounts? I've tried coupons I can find and it's still cheaper on Amazon after tax.

Thanks

Despite, regular and thorough cleaning with proper coffee cleaner (i get the stuff from the guy that takes care of our office machines) I would still get a brew that was both very acidic and bitter. Past the first cup, I have to choke down a second or third - it tasted worse that our Keurig. We do grind our own beans with a Cuisinart burr grinder - right now using Peet's. Using the very same coffee, the Bonavita was smooth, rich, and very noticeably hotter. My wife was at first not pleased with another one of my impulse purchases, now she is a convert.

We purchased one this year for around 160, and we are very happy with it. Aside from our Aeropress it makes the best cup we have ever made at home. The carafe could use a little improvement, but it is nothing major. The coffee is still warm even if my spouse wakes up an hour before me and makes the coffee. At 120 I am tempted to buy one for my mother-in-law, so I can have a decent brew when we are visiting.
