the blower/sweeper is weak sauce and there are some issues with the auto-feed string head not working properly on the trimmer according to some reviews dating back to 2012 so Ryobi still has not fixed the issue.

Looks alot like the other 40v Ryobi, but this is only a single string trimmer.

Ry40400 is the blower. Anyone got model # on the trimmer, charger, and battery?

A battery by itself will run $100. I'm not sure I like the switch on the blower, but for $129 I may give it try since I already have a 40v chainsaw.

is there no Expand-it options with this one? doesn't look like it has a way to swap attachments.

These are both the old styles, no expand-it option. The trimmer is pretty good and for a single string trimmer it uses the 0.08 line vs the 0.65 that the 40V B&D uses. Like others I initially had issues with the string feed but you get used to it after a while and you have to do it just right. The blower isn't nearly as good as the Jet Fan design of the new ones but even that is still weak compared to the gas like power you would get from the EGO or Echo battery powered blowers, but at this price you are essentially buying the string trimmer for regular price and getting a free bare tool sweeper.

I was just at Home Depot an hour ago. Not sure what route I want to go. I Have 5 18v one plus tools already and 2 compact lion batteries already. They have the 18v 4ah set that has strong trimmer and blower. Blower has a little higher specs on it and trimmer is a little nicer plus has rotating edging head.
Both are $129. I am not positive if 18v comes with 2 batteries or just one.

I have read that 40v has a lot more power runtime and torque.
40v battery is $100 alone and 2 high capacity batteries are $99

Advice or anyone own either ?
Do both sets have 5 year warranty covering unit and batteries ?

Picked one of these up today, and so far, so good. Needed something to replace a month old Troy Bilt 2-cycle gas trimmer that never worked properly during the brief time I owned it. This trimmer has enough power for me, and is very light compared to the Troy Bilt. I didn't have any problems using it at all, but I'm not doing anything heavy duty. The blower isn't remarkably powerful, but it works for me.

Thanks for the details. Trying to decide whether to go with 18v combo or 40v combo

I bought the 18V combo a year ago. Now wishing I bought the 40V and might replace with this set.

Not sure why this deal isnt getting more love. Seems pretty darn slick to me! Thanks OP

I didn't pull the trigger because 2 things. Both seem like couple year old models. New jet leaf type is a big improvement. Also trimmer for new one new one has rotating edger and bigger 40v battery.
