It's not live yet. These CPU / MB bundles usually aren't available until later in the afternoon. Frys is just weird like that.

For the Intel bundle, ATX board?

Has anyone ever had luck with them letting you upgrade it to a better board than the one in the bundle and then just pay the difference?

How is this a deal? Isn't this fairly dated tech for an average price?

Is this going to be B&M? Don't have a Fry's near me, but looking for this CPU and figuring I could sell the Mobo to get it down to a good price

Interesting, so is it worth another, approximately, $140 more to invest in this combo [bhphotovideo.com] ?

I say approximately $140 more because of the difference in price from this deal plus the fact I'd have to invest some $$ to get DDR4 RAM to replace what I have today (8GB).

If I was paying the regular price for a Z97 motherboard (and granted, the motherboard in this deal causes me to pause a bit with the bad reviews I've found on it) and the i5-4690K processor, I'd opt for the B&H combo instead.

But this Fry's combo could save me $140 over going in on a i5-6600K CPU and seems like it is much better than my i3-2120 set up I have today.

I'm not a gamer, I have an old video card (Nvidia 9600GT), but I do like to do video encoding, and quite a bit of it, as a hobby.

Not trying to say what you are saying is BS, just want to be educated since you made the comment that this combo is an "average price" for older tech.

good enough pc for your mom or wife. but kinda old technology for gaming. 4th gen intel chips would still cut it but not for heavy games.

Mmm I'm still running a 3570k with a 280x, can't complain much. But I agree that if you're buying something right now, the 4690k shouldn't be it.

What would you suggest then. The way you're talking about this CPU, you're acting as though it's the g3258.
