Always thought the ATIV or Series 9 from Sammy was a great looking laptop. Just something to watch out for is the CPU it has, the M-5Y31. You'd think this beauty would have an i5 at least. That's the only bottleneck I see.

The only good thing about this laptop is the amazing screen and Samsung connectivity. Other than that, it's pretty pricey IMO. There are really good laptops out there with amazing specs for that price that comes with Nvidia GPU. The links are at the bottom. All of the laptops are also 6th Gen Intel

- ($799.99) Dell 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop (6th Gen Intel Quad-Core i5-6300HQ Processor up to 3.2GHz, 8GB DDR3, 256GB SSD, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M, Windows 10)
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-15-6-I...PDKIKX0DER

- ($549.99) Acer Aspire E 15, 15.6 Full HD, Intel Core i5, NVIDIA 940MX, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, Windows 10, E5-575G-53VG
http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire...PDKIKX0DER

- ($549) ASUS F556UA-AS54 15.6-inch Full-HD Laptop (Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) with Windows 10, Icicle Gold
http://www.amazon.com/F556UA-AS54...PDKIKX0DER

PS - I spent time putting other laptops up so people can have a choices if they're on the fence for a new laptop. I'm not here to start an argument about ultraportable, Macbooks, etc so please stop quoting me. Geez. Never knew there would be a witch hunt in trying to help out the community

Those are completely different classes of laptops. Do any of them have a 12" screen and weigh 2 pounds?

It's no faster than the base MacBook and has 3 hours shorter battery life (reviews I've read put the MacBook at 9 hours and the Samsung at 6 in actual use; the ATIV is rated around 10 hours but people don't get that in normal use). The trackpad is one of the weak points and much inferior to a MacBook's.

This laptop is great for the price for what it is but it does not outperform a MacBook (1.1 GHz 2015 MacBook gets about 4460 Geekbench 3 vs 4600 for the ATIV). A MacBook has an SSD about 8X faster than the ATIV's SSD. That will make a huge difference in real world use.

The Samsung is a nice laptop but has its limits (like a MacBook).

12inch laptop is for someone who needs very small/portable machine. if you need a small laptop, get at least 14inch. I think macbook pro 15inch is the perfect size

I tried to flip some of these a while ago. They were a hard sell. Most people still aren't sold on core M technology. It's a sexy machine, no doubt. Thinnest. Lightest. It even has the nickname of "the blade." But I think most people would rather have the available power of a full voltage core-i processor. Part of the problem is just perception. A clock speed of 900Mhz just sounds slow even if it isn't. A buyer thinks wow that's not even in the Ghz range. It must be slow. It's a decent deal for what it is but still a good chunk of change to drop on a netbook, however sexy.

Edit to add that despite the thread rating, almost a full 12 hours after the deal was posted the listing still has exactly zero sales. I think that proves my point.

M-5Y31 at 800... nope... Apple gets away with this price but with a better build quality.

For 800 I'd stick with a current gen U series not a last year core M. None the less, if you must own a samsung ATIV, this is a pretty good price seeing as its thin and has a really great screen.

My work laptop used to be an ATIV Book 9, but probably the generation prior to the one listed here. Currently using a Surface Pro 3 from the new office I now work in. I really, really miss the ATIV Book 9 I had previously. That one was a 13.3" touchscreen, i7 processor, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd. It was fast, skinny, solid build, amazing display. I loved that machine. I'm very "meh" about the Surface Pro 3.

I would never pay MSRP for an ATIV Book 9 for the same reason I'll never buy a Mac-anything. In fact, I probably won't buy a laptop at all as long as I get a free one from work... but man I miss my old ATIV Book 9.

How is it different? I listed better hardware and you say that the screen size is smaller and the weight is lighter but yet the price is lower or around that price point. So you're saying selling someone something expensive with inferior hardware is better? Get outta here

To those unfamiliar with Win. 10 - I hope you're comfortable using an OS that has ads embedded into it, social media account integration (right into the OS), and an always "online" personal assistant. Oh did I mention the ads embedded into the OS?

You're crazy to willingly buy or use any Win. 10 device.

"Better" is the keyword here. A "better" deal or machine can be subjective, so while you listed some promising machines, they're not ideal for everyone. The laptops you find "better" are in a completely different class, which can appeal to very different people.

Yes, the Dell has superior components, but a laptop isn't a dichotomous investment. There's several aspects or features of a laptop that can make a particular machine "better" than another. It's all about perspective, individual preference, and circumstance.

Personally, I'm interested in the Samsung Book 9 because I'm looking for an ultra portable laptop for school. Although the Samsung's not a powerhouse like the Dell, I find it more appealing because it has superior battery life, portability, and is virtually silent, which is incredibly important in a classroom setting.

As you can (hopefully) see, people tend to have unique needs and priorities, so a "better" laptop isn't always "better."

Anyway, thanks for the deal. However, I think I'll hold off for a MacBook Air. I'm still waiting on Best Buy to have a sale on 8GB 13" models. $749 would be just perfect with a 10% student discount.
