I use a Penn Conflict 4000. How is this in comparison?

Shame I don't fish freshwater. This seems like a great deal!

Right hand retrieve reel... Would be slicker if it was a left hand retrieve. Thumbs up for a good deal anyhow.

I want the spinning reel/rod. Which one is it? There's so many different models. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks! I got it. Not a big fan of Daiwa reels, but this a good deal tho. The rod alone is $90-$100.

It really depends on what you will be fishing for. First, have you ever used a baitcasting type reel? If not, it will be a learning curve and take some getting used to. IMO I'd go with the 7'mh as a good rod that will cover a variety of presentations.
If you have never used a bait caster and want to get straight to fishing, get a spinning combo. UL-MEDIUM action for panfish/trout. Medium action and up for larger species (bass, Catfish, etc.).

Nice! Just got off the water - I took my new Eagle Talon out this afternoon. No fish today because I wasn't out long enough.

No need for fishing rods in Cali. All the lakes are almost bone dry!
