Be careful with the BP gift cards. They are shutting down retail stations. Make sure you can use them before they are gone.

VA for sure. I've seen 3 change owners in a few months. I didn't even notice until I bought some a few weeks back when they were the same sale price.

BP announced several years ago they were exiting the retail market. Most stations seems to be converting over to Marathon. My nearest BP is now about 50 miles away. The attendant indicated he thinks they will convert over in about 2 months. So just check and make sure your local BP is still around.

Also, do not trust Google maps. They are not current. Call the phone number of the station and make sure the phone is not disconnected.

Most gas stations are franchises, so perhaps the franchise owner(s) in your area are shutting down.

Exactly. WI/IL is littered with BPs. I do not see them going away in the near future, as many were recently opened.

You're confused - several years ago they announced they were selling off their corporate owned stations to independent franchisees, who buy their gas from BP. Exxon did the same thing a long time ago. Your stations might be switching to Marathons because their contracts are up and they don't have to buy BP gas anymore.

"Five years ago, the chance to buy a gas station and a busy repair shop from BP seemed like an opportunity for Jose and Betty Camacho. ... They own their business, but are franchisees. By contract, they must buy their gas from BP until 2020. Now that affiliation is causing problems. The anger against BP has prompted some to picket in front of BP-branded gas stations. Jesse Jackson has called for a BP boycott. But BP sold off its retail gas business. Now, the people who own the 13,000 BP gas stations are generally independent franchisees, like the Camachos." - http://www.npr.org/templates/stor...=127747890

My local gas station charges less on cash payment. Don't know if this kind of gas card is considered as cash or credit. Anyone has any experience?
