I've owned several hk receivers, the most recent and current being the avr1700, all of their onscreen interfaces are garbage. You buy an hk receiver for the warm sound imo.

Great value.

You'll need a receiver...do NOT go with HK for that, I did and the interface is awful.

People don't buy an avr for the onscreen interface.

No receiver= Not a system. Rather, a set.

Can someone let me know if this is a good buy for a home theater less than $200?

Is this good for an HTPC? Does it connect directly to my HTPC sound card or do i still need a receiver?

I'm not knowledgeable at all regarding subs, but I do have the inexpensive 5.1 monoprice speakers/sub and want to upgrade the sub. How is the sub on this setup?

I'm content with the monoprice speakers. Is this sub equally as good as the subs that are approx $180 on here?

I know buying this would also be an upgrade on my monoprice speakers but upgrading the sub is my main concern.
